“Τεχνη Καθ' Οδον” 2019 Art En Route “ΤΕΧΝΗ ΚΑΘ’ ΟΔΟΝ” 2019 ART EN ROUTE 20-24 Σεπτεμβρίου / September 2 3 “ΤΕΧΝΗ ΚΑΘ’ ΟΔΟΝ” 2019 “ΤΕΧΝΗ ΚΑΘ’ ΟΔΟΝ” 2019 4ο Παγκρήτιο Φεστιβάλ δρόμου στο Ηράκλειο Οδηγός …πλεύσης ! Φροντίζοντας, μεταξύ άλλων, και για την ισόρροπη πολιτιστική ανάπτυξη Φθάνοντας στην τέταρτη χρονιά διοργάνωσης τού “Τέχνη καθ’ οδόν”, πι - κέντρου-περιφέρειας και αποδεικνύοντας έμπρακτα το ενδιαφέρον μας στεύαμε ότι τα πράγματα θα ήταν πια ευκολότερα. Πλην, για μια ακόμη για τις δυνατότητες της ύπαιθρου, το “Τέχνη καθ’ οδόν” απλώθηκε φέτος φορά, διαψευστήκαμε! Η αιφνίδια προκήρυξη εκλογών τον Ιούλιο, ανέ - για πρώτη φορά και εκτός πόλης. Ένα φεστιβάλ δρόμου, που φιλοδοξεί τρεψε όλον τον σχεδιασμό μας! Χρειάστηκε να μεταφερθεί χρονικά το να αναδείξει και να ενδυναμώσει τις καλλιτεχνικές δυνάμεις του τόπου, φεστιβάλ, να ετοιμάσουμε δυο φορές το πρόγραμμα, να ενημερώσουμε να τους προσφέρει χώρο και τρόπο έκφρασης και να προσελκύσει αξιό - καλλιτέχνες εντός και εκτός Ελλάδος, να χάσουμε εκδηλώσεις και εκθέ - λογους καλλιτέχνες και επισκέπτες. Έτσι, μετά την επιτυχία που σημείωσε σεις και εν ολίγοις να βάλουμε τάξη σε ένα μικρό ...”χάος”. Παρά ταύτα, τα τρία προηγούμενα χρόνια στο Ηράκλειο, επεκτάθηκε πιλοτικά και δεν πτοηθήκαμε! Το “Τέχνη καθ’ Οδόν” είναι και πάλι έτοιμο να γεμίσει στην περιφέρεια του Δήμου, σε συνεργασία με τους τοπικούς Πολιτιστι - με χρώμα, μουσική και ενέργεια την πόλη! Αποτολμήσαμε μάλιστα, κούς Συλλόγους. Τρία κεφαλοχώρια του Δήμου μας -οι Άνω Ασίτες, το αυτή τη φορά, να κάνουμε το ίδιο και στην περιφέρεια του Δήμου, δου - Βενεράτο και τα Κεράσα-, απόλαυσαν ήδη πλούσιες και ποιοτικές εκδη - λεύοντας με τους τοπικούς Πολιτιστικούς Συλλόγους, που στήριξαν την λώσεις και μεταμορφώθηκαν σε “χωριό των χρωμάτων” [οι Ασίτες], του προσπάθειά μας με συγκινητικό ενθουσιασμό και σκληρή δουλειά. “Ερωτόκριτου” [το Βενεράτο] και “των παραμυθιών” [τα Κεράσα]. Από 20 Πήγαν όλα καλά και ευελπιστούμε τις επόμενες μέρες να πάνε ακόμα κα - έως 24 Σεπτεμβρίου, με μουσική, εικαστικά και πολλά άλλα, μικρά και με - λύτερα. γάλα δρώμενα, μεταμορφώνει και πάλι ολόκληρη την πόλη του Ηρα - κλείου σε ένα ανοιχτό θέατρο τέχνης. Οι εθελοντικές ομάδες του Δήμου, Εσείς δεν έχετε παρά να προετοιμαστείτε μελετώντας προσεκτικά το εκείνες που εμπνεύστηκαν και ανέλαβαν αυτό το δύσκολο εγχείρημα, πρόγραμμα και τον χάρτη, να εξοπλιστείτε με κουράγιο για τους ρυθ - πάντα παρούσες και ακούραστες, προσέφεραν και φέτος τον καλύτερο μούς, την ένταση και το ...περπάτημα που θα χρειαστείτε, και να βγείτε εαυτό τους για την επιτυχία του εγχειρήματος. Τις ευχαριστούμε από καρ - στους δρόμους. Σας περιμένουν πλατείες γεμάτες κέφι, ζωή και τέχνη! διάς και συγχαίρουμε όλους τους συντελεστές του φεστιβάλ - την Μπορείτε να πάρετε μαθήματα ζωγραφικής, να σκηνοθετήσετε μια ταινία Oργανωτική του Επιτροπή, τους χορηγούς και έναν προς έναν αυτούς για την πόλη, να πάτε θέατρο, να παρακολουθήσετε ένα Gala όπερας, να που εργάστηκαν για την επιτυχία του. δείτε έργα διάσημων Ελλήνων ζωγράφων, να ανιχνεύσετε το πέρασμα Ιδιαίτερες ευχαριστίες οφείλονται στους “εταίρους” που συμβάλλουν του Μυθικού Δαίδαλου στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο, να συνοδεύσετε πρόθυμα στη διοργάνωση του - την Περιφέρεια Κρήτης και τη ΔΗ.Κ.Ε.Η, σπουδαίους καλλιτέχνες στα τραγούδια τους και βεβαίως να εξαντλήσετε τη Δ.Ε.Π.ΑΝ.Α.Λ. και τους σημαντικούς φορείς που το στηρίζουν - το Αρ - τις αντοχές σας χορεύοντας! Ενδυναμώστε τους με το θερμό χειροκρό - χαιολογικό Μουσείο Ηρακλείου, την Ε.Κ.Ι.Μ και το Ιστορικό Μουσείο Κρή - τημά σας. Το χρειάζονται και το αξίζουν! της, το Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας, Κρήτης, τα Ιδρύματα Ανδρέα και Όσο για μας, ευχαριστούμε θερμά, τους φορείς που μας εμπιστεύθη - Μαρίας Καλοκαιρινού, τον Εμπορικό Σύλλογο Ηρακλείου και την Ε.Φ.Ε.Κ. καν και βεβαιώνουμε κι αυτούς και σας πως κάναμε κυριολεκτικά ό,τι Κλείνοντας, ευχαριστούμε και συγχαίρουμε τους Έλληνες και ξένους μπορούσαμε. Ζητούμε όπως πάντα, την κατανόησή σας για τα όποια καλλιτέχνες που συμμετέχουν, συνεισφέροντας το ταλέντο και τις γνώ - λάθη και αστοχίες μας και σας ευχαριστούμε εκ των προτέρων για τη συμ - σεις τους.     Research in the communities – mapping potential cultural heritage sites with potential for adaptive re-use – Heraklion (Greece) The island of Crete in general and the city of Heraklion has an enormous cultural heritage. The Arab traders from al-Andalus (Iberia) who founded the Emirate of Crete moved the island's capital from Gortyna to a new castle they called rabḍ al-ḫandaq in the 820s. This was Hellenized as Χάνδαξ (Chándax) or Χάνδακας (Chándakas) and Latinized as Candia, the Ottoman name was Kandiye. The ancient name Ηράκλειον was revived in the 19th century and comes from the nearby Roman port of Heracleum ("Heracles's city"), whose exact location is unknown. English usage formerly preferred the classicizing transliterations "Heraklion" or "Heraclion", but the form "Iraklion" is becoming more common. Knossos is located within the Municipality of Heraklion and has been called as Europe's oldest city. Heraklion is close to the ruins of the palace of Knossos, which in Minoan times was the largest centre of population on Crete. Knossos had a port at the site of Heraklion from the beginning of Early Minoan period (3500 to 2100 BC). Between 1600 and 1525 BC, the port was destroyed by a volcanic tsunami from nearby Santorini, leveling the region and covering it with ash. The present city of Heraklion was founded in 824 by the Arabs under Abu Hafs Umar. Address: Made, 71500 Heraklion, Crete, Greece Tel: 2810 811800 E-mail: [email protected] History of Heraclion Heraklion is the largest city of Crete and one of Greece’s major urban centers. Its development begun in the wake of the 9th century AD (in antiquity, Knossos was the island’s most important centre, followed by Gortyn). In later times, Heraklion came under Arabic, Venetian and Ottoman rule; its conquerors initially gave it the name Khandaq or Handak which was corrupted to Candia. During the 2004 Olympic Games, the city of Heraklion provided one of the venues for the football tournament. Among the most outstanding sights of Heraklion are the fortification walls that delimit the “old city”. The first fortifications were built by the Arabs and were later reinforced by the Venetians (15th century). From the seven bastions, only the Martinengo bastion survives to this day; there visitors will find the tomb of the renowned writer N. Kazantzakis, overlooking the city. From the four gates to the city, only Chanioporta (1570) with the characteristic winged Lion of Saint Marc and the New Gate (1587) at the southern side survive today. In the old (Venetian) port, next to the modern facilities, one can see the vaulted tarsanades where ships used to be built, while the western side is dominated by the Koule fortress (16th century).

Dawkins first came to Crete during the period of his Craven Scholarship, which was awarded to him by Emmanuel College, Cambridge as a reward for his Double First in the Classical Tripos. Under the terms of the scholarship, he spent the academic year 1902-3 attached to the British School at Athens. During this period, in early 1903, excited by Arthur Evans’ discoveries at Knossos, he sailed to Crete not only to familiarize himself with the recently discovered Minoan finds that were housed in the archaeological museum at Herakleion, but also to take part in one of the excavations.
