Declarations of Interests Members declared their interests, in accordance with the Resolution of the House of 13 July 1992 (see Appendix). 2. Election of Chair Dr Sarah Wollaston was called to the Chair. Resolved, That the Chair report her election to the House. 3. Evidence from the Prime Minister The Committee considered this matter. 4. National Policy Statements Sub-Committee Ordered, That a National Policy Statements Sub-Committee be appointed (Standing Order No. 145(6)). Ordered, That Dr Sarah Wollaston and Mary Creagh be members of the National Policy Statements Sub-Committee in addition to those members of the committee who are for the time being members of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Communities and Local Government, Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, 2 Liaison Committee: Formal Minutes 2017–19 Transport and Welsh Affairs Committees, and that Dr Sarah Wollaston be Chair of the National Policy Statements Sub-Committee (Standing Order No. 145(7)(a)(ii)). Resolved, That the Sub-Committee recommends that, pursuant to Standing Order No. 152H, the Transport Committee be designated to consider the draft airports national policy statement, which was laid before the House on 24 October 2017. Ordered, That the Chair report this resolution to the main Committee forthwith. 5. Committee working practices and future programme Resolved, That Hilary Benn, Bernard Jenkin, Norman Lamb, Pete Wishart and Sarah Wollaston be members of an informal Steering Group to support the Chair with delegated duties and decision making between formal committee meetings. Ordered, That, subject to the discretion of the Chair, written evidence shall be reported to the House for publication. 6. Westminster Hall debates Resolved, That pursuant to Standing Order No. 10 (7), the Committee has determined that the following reports should be set down for debate in Westminster Hall: Women in the House of Commons after the 2020 election, Fifth Report from the Women and Equalities Committee, Session 2016-17, HC 630, and the Government Response, Cm 9492 (7 December 2017) Asylum Accommodation, Twelfth Report from the Home Affairs Committee, Session 2016-17, HC 637, and the Government Response, HC 551 (14 December 2017) HM Government support for UK victims of IRA attacks that used Gaddafi- supplied Semtex and weapons, Fourth Report from the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee, Session 2016–17, HC 49, and the Government Response, HC 331 (14 December 2017) 7. Overseas travel Resolved, That the Committee delegate decisions on individual bids to the Chair. Northern Ireland Affairs Committee to Basel, Switzerland, in November 2017, in connection with its inquiry into the land border between Northern Ireland and Ireland, at a cost not exceeding £5,352. Exiting the European Union Committee to Paris, in November 2017, in connection with its inquiry into the progress of negotiations, at a cost not exceeding £9,314. Foreign Affairs Committee to Dublin, in November 2017, in connection with its inquiry into The future of Britain’s diplomatic relationship with Europe, at a cost not exceeding £6,962 International Development Committee to Paris, in November 2017, in connection with its inquiries into UK-EU development co-operation, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the definition and allocation of ODA, the Syrian refugee crisis and work on global education, at a cost not exceeding £13,614. Defence Committee to Washington DC, in December 2017, in connection with its inquiry into The indispensable ally? US, NATO and UK Defence relations, at a cost not exceeding £59,677. Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee to Washington DC and New York, in February 2018, in connection with its inquiry into Fake News, at a cost not exceeding £71,469. The following visits in a representative capacity were approved: Foreign Affairs Committee to Tallinn, Estonia, in September 2017, to attend the Inter-parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy, at a cost not exceeding £1,892. International Development Committee, to New York, in September 2017, to attend the UN General Assembly, at a cost not exceeding £5,810. Home Affairs Committee to Brussels, in October 2017, to attend the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Co-operation (Europol), at a cost not exceeding £355.
