There is a lack of information on the clinical features of tolperisone poisoning in the literature. The aim of this study was to investigate the demographics, circumstances and clinical features of acute overdoses with tolperisone. Methods An observational study of acute overdoses of tolperisone, either alone or in combination with one non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug in a dose range not expected to cause central nervous system effects, in adults and children (< 16 years), reported to our poison centre between 1995 and 2013. Current Awareness in Clinical Toxicology is produced monthly for the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology by the Birmingham Unit of the UK National Poisons Information Service, with contributions from the Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Newcastle Units. The NPIS is commissioned by Public Health England Results 75 cases were included: 51 females (68%) and 24 males (32%); 45 adults (60%) and 30 children (40%). Six adults (13%) and 17 children (57%) remained asymptomatic, and mild symptoms were seen in 25 adults (56%) and 10 children (33%).

PHYSICAL HARM 2 Abstract While we may think about harm as primarily being about physical injury, harm can also take the form of negative psychological impact. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), we examined the extent to which moral judgments of physical and psychological harms are processed similarly, focusing on brain regions implicated in mental state reasoning or theory of mind, a key cognitive process for moral judgment. First, univariate analyses reveal item-specific features that lead to greater recruitment of theory of mind regions for psychological harm versus physical harm. Second, multivariate pattern analyses (MVPA) reveal sensitivity to the psychological/physical distinction in two regions implicated in theory of mind: the right temporoparietal junction and the precuneus. Third, we find no reliable differences between neurotypical adults and adults with autism spectrum disorder with regard to neural activity related to theory of mind during moral evaluations of psychological and physical harm.     NEWS JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER OF SCRANTON August 2011 TSOFIM BRING FLAVOR OF ISRAEL AND JOY TO JCC CAMP DALEVILLE On Monday July 25th, the Israel Scouts (Tsofim) Friendship Caravan visited JCC Camp Daleville (Scranton JCC’s sum- mer day camp in the Poconos). Their caravan rolled into camp with a lot of excitement! As they drove in, they were singing Israeli songs and making their presence known. After enjoying lunch with the campers, they led informal edu- cational activities for each camp group which included learning about Hebrew names, Israel’s geography & culture and Israeli games! The day culminated with an amazing music and dance performance like no other! The campers joined in song & dance as they experienced a taste of Israel in the Poconos! Following the performance, the Israel Scouts made their way down to the JCC for dinner and a “mifgash” (Hebrew for meeting) with our BBYO youth group members. This was an opportunity for our American Jewish teens to interact with Israeli teens of the same age. Friendships were born, and fun was had by all. The Israel Scouts Friendship Caravan consisted of 5 males and 5 females who were selected among 300 Israeli teens who auditioned. They travel across North America to share their lives in Israel through song, dance and story. This was the first time the caravan visited JCC Camp Daleville in fifteen years. Three caravans travel throughout North America each summer as emissaries , typically reaching over 35 states, including 250 camps, community centers, churches, senior homes and schools, performing for an audience of nearly 100,000 people.

(Preliminary paper; not to be quoted without permission) “Feasts are made for laughter; wine gladdens life, and silver meets every need.” Ecclesiastes 10: 19 Abstract This paper is about the role of money in the Ancient Near Eastern economy. Several aspects are treated. 1. The nature of the market. An overview of the discussion on the existence of a market economy. 2. The nature of the money; the money stuff (mainly silver); trust. 3. The measure of monetization; volatility of prices as a measure of market performance. A case study is made on the Hellenistic Period (from Alexander the Great, c. 330 BC, to the first century BC), because from this period a huge number of data on prices and coinage is available. A market economy in the Ancient World? A capitalistic market economy in which the means of production are in the hands of private citizens or companies and in which the economy is driven by the innate drive of humans to act as a homo oeconomicus to strive for maximization of profit and in which prices of goods are set by the law of supply and demand, is taken for granted in the modern western world and it is often believed that this is the only natural way in which a society can function. The basis of this concept can be found in the seminal work of Adam Smith (1723-1790), An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (1776).
