Rest of the day is free at leisure for you to explore the city. Day 02 SIEM REAP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) After breakfast, begin the day with a visit to The South Gate of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire. Explore the temples inside the walls of the “Great City” such as Bayon, Phimeanakas, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants as well as the Terrace of the Leper King; followed by a small circuit tour of Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda, Ta Keo and Ta Prohm, a temple with jungle-like atmosphere with a combination of giant trees and extensive roots growing out of the ruins. After lunch, explore the grounds of Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”. Constructed during the first half of the 12th century and encompassing an area of about 400 acres, this awe-inspiring temple is the largest and the best-preserved monument within the ancient city that was the epicentre of the Khmer empire that once ruled most of Southeast Asia. Later in the evening, take a short hike up to the top of Bakheng Hill for a fabulous view of sunset over Angkor Wat and its surrounding rice fields as well as forested countryside; before relaxing and unwinding while enjoying a dinner with Khmer Traditional Show. Day 03 SIEM REAP / BATTAMBANG / SIEM REAP (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) After breakfast, journey approximately 165 kilometres Southwest of Siem Reap to Battambang, Cambodia’s second largest city which was founded in the 11th century. Visit Wat Ek Phnom, an 11th century ancient temple located on the left bank of Sangkae River, approximately 11 kilometres north of Battambang, Although partly collapsed and looted, Wat Ek Phnom, surrounded by trees and lily ponds, remains famous for the intricate carvings on its lintels and pediments, particularly the lintel above the eastern entrance to the central temple that depicts the “Churning of the Ocean of Milk” from Hindu mythology. Thereafter, continue on to Wat Samrong Knong – one of the oldest pagodas in Battambang Province which was built in 1707, on the site of a pre-Angkorian temple complex. It was seized and turned into a prison during the Khmer Rouge regime and today, the complex also houses a stupa and memorial to more than 10,000 victims who has lost their lives to the atrocities committed during the Khmer Rouge era. Along the way, explore the vast country side that offers a glimpse into the traditional crafts in Battambang - visit a local rice wine distillery to learn how one of Cambodia’s oldest and most traditional drink is infused and processed; as well as a unique village that specializes in the traditional way of making “rice paper”, a thin, translucent layer of pounded and steamed rice used to wrap spring rolls. After lunch, enjoy a thrilling ride on the bamboo train, an improvised rail vehicle made from bamboo platform on wheels, often consisting of a small motor at the back. Norrie as it is known locally, is a unique mode of transportation that was once the main means to transport goods and livestock along the dilapidated railway lines when roads were more difficult to traverse. The method used in this research is the qualitative research. The research instrument used historical methods by collecting information from primary and secondary sources, then to analysis process. The research discovered the pattern of trade between Cambodia and Siam that started to be affected when borders were established. Since Cambodia was under French’s rule as one of French’s nation, France tried to delimit and demarcate the boundary lines which divided the community that once cohabitated into a community under new nation state. In each area, traditions, rules and laws are different, but people lived along the border continued to bring their goods to exchange for their livings. This habit is still continuing, even the living communities are divided into different countries. For such reason, it was the source of "Border trade” in western concept. The Thai-Cambodian border’s trade during that period under the French protectorate of Cambodia was effected because of the rules and law which illustrated the sovereignty of the land.

Abstract This thesis examines how the architecture of the various sacred traditions, all manifest in their built expressions a universal symbolic content, while at the same time being absolutely unique in their own inherent particular spiritual dispensation. One major aspect of this symbolic content is the embedding of the three-dimensional cross in its various modes within their built arrangements. The correlation between the three dimensions of space and the metaphysical symbolism of the cross was the subject of a short but important work by the French traditional metaphysician René Guénon titled Symbolism of the Cross (Le Symbolisme de Ia Croix). In describing the purpose of the work Guénon wrote that it was 'to explain a symbol that is common to almost all traditions, a fact that would seem to indicate its direct attachment to the great primordial tradition'.
