The ladies and men outdid themselves with the decorating of the Spring Hats. They were so colourful and creative as well. Everyone got to model their hats & we had three judges, judging them. 1st, 2nd & 3rd places they were all presented with lovely prizes. Check out the photos in the Newsletter. Then we had 4 ladies doing Celebrity Heads, wearing Witches hats lots of laughs trying to guess whose name was written on their hat. All three were presented with gifts for participation. We had the good old fashion Potato and Spoon race for the adults, I think the men were cheating. Once again 1st, 2nd & 3rd placing were presented with gifts. Then we also had the children's potato and spoon race, they loved it, and all received gifts. Every club member was given a bag of goodies when they arrived & they all loved it. I gave a talk to open the day about Lou Whiteman who owned all the land at Whiteman Park, and also owning the Brickyards in Middle Swan. I know the talk was very much appreciated as I had people come up to me thanking me for the talk and that they just love to hear about history. We had the tables set up with the most delicious home-made cakes. A huge thank-you to the Federation committee members who bought these cakes in, there was more than enough. We had the urn going all day for tea/coffee. Plenty of cold bottled water for everyone. All in all, it was a fantastic social day. I would like to thank the following clubs for supporting the Federation for hosting this our very first Picnic it was just a lovely day: Ellenbrook, Forrestfield, Swan Bassendean, Bentley, Cannington, Greenwood, East Maddington & Maylands. We are now heading into the festive season & this is where we have to be very careful with what we eat & drink. What with all the parties, restaurants etc. We need to try and stay on track during this time of the year. Try not to undo what you have achieved through-out the year. Plan your menu each day, especially if you know you are going out for breakfast, lunch or dinner. EAT LESS, before you go out and when you come back home. EXERCISE, even if it means go to the shopping centres and walk around for 30 minutes. Most important ensure you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. It's always nice to have a talk to the Regional Clubs and it was so nice having a chat to York, they tell me they have been around for 40 years and still going strong. I have been invited to Hammersley/Warwick Weight Watchers club on November 25th. Pauline will be attending with me and we look forward to meeting all the club members. OFFICE CLOSURE From: Friday 13th December 2019 Re-open: Monday 13th January 2020. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the Federation Executive, Committee Members and all the Clubs Committee and Members A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY & SAFE NEW YEAR. State President. Shirley Sardelich. NEW WEIGHT WATCHERS FOR ALBANY. I am so pleased to announce that ALBANY has a new Weight Watchers Club Up and Running. KARKANA KLUB Welcome to the Karkana Klub news update. Firstly, my name is Debra Pollock and I have been elected as the President. I was the President two years ago for a few years. Our group has had a bit of a face lift (or shirt lift). We decided to get a club top to wear every week and at events. You will see from the photos attached that we look quite smart. Our numbers have reduced a bit this year. This has been to people moving, illness and sadly members passing away. We are getting ready for Christmas, organising a dinner plus our end of year function which will incorporate our crowning night, secret Santa and our Christmas supper. We have got our Christmas tree competition going at the moment, will end on November 28. We have a felt tree and everyone has a bauble with their name on it. You start on the tree and if you put on weight you have to be put in the box under the tree with an angel. If you lose weight you can go back on the tree and if the following week you lose again you will lose your angel. Unfortunately, we have quite a few baubles in the box. It is quite hard as it goes for 12 weeks. Our last crowning night saw Sandra Trafford as our Queen, she lost 3.550 in the 12 weeks. We are only going to have one week off over the Christmas period as its too hard to get back on track. We are looking at doing a challenge with another group to get the motivation up and going. We get the Healthy Food Guide magazine each month and I read from it, getting new ideas and checking out new recipes. I have attached some photos of our group with our new shirts. We have got the weight in girls, Jodie, Lisa and Jan. Then we have Jane and Norma, they are our longest serving members, they do the lotto and money board each week. They have been with the Federation over 40 years each. And then our group. Not all members have the shirts, it’s not compulsory. Well that’s all for now. Wishing the committee and all the groups a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Debra MAYLANDS WEIGHT LOSS SUPPORT GROUP What a glorious day it was today for our Picnic in the Park, the weather was absolutely perfect. Several of our ladies came along with their families, who all agreed it was a fantastic outing. Most brought their decorated hats, including Louise’s husband Tony who had a “Possum” lurking around the brim. It was so nice to see a man getting into the spirit of things even though he was ineligible to enter as he wasn’t a Member. There were 16 ladies who paraded their decorated hats, and I was very happy that our club was well represented. Louise Lynch won 1st place with her Bee buzzing around her flowers, while my Fairy Garden hat came in 2nd and Julie Clark from Ellenbrook placing 3rd wearing her absolutely beautiful arrangement of pink and white flowers on a white hat with the brim turned up. Well done to everyone for your creations, you all deserved to win. In addition to the hats, there was a game of Celebrity Hats and again Maylands came out a winner with Louise correctly guessing that her Celebrity, was Donald Trump. Another game was organized to the delight of everyone in attendance, a Potato and Spoon race, Maylands scored the trifecta in this, with Debbie Cadee 1st, my daughter Denise Hollins 2nd and Toni Pooley 3rd, well done to you all. The little ones in attendance weren’t left out they had a little (plastic) egg and spoon race with Darcie the winner, Xavier 2nd and little Sebastian in 3rd place.

… … This publication is a compilation of news stories related to Northern Exposure. I arranged it all in chronological order just to see what kind of narrative would fall out. As it is, it tells more of the story behind the scenes of the show than the episode guides do. I tried to make sure every article had complete original author citations … but I’m not a pro writer & some of the stories lacked complete info. There are articles here that were only available through online archives such as Moosechick’s Notes. I’ve borrowed from there & many other places just to put as much in one place as I could … I want to make sure to acknowledge Moosechick, Randy Cole, the news services, & anyone I forgot. I know that I didn’t write any of the content in this publication. I just put it together as a fan who wanted to share it with other fans. I’m not trying to earn a single cent for it, but would encourage donations to Moosechick’s Notes, or the Moosefest causes, or something of the like. All articles in this compilation are provided as completely as was reasonable. Some were slightly edited to correct egregious grammar & spelling mistakes. A few articles were snipped to only show the parts that reference NX. I tried to indicate which articles I did that to with an [Edit] or [Snipped] tag … but I didn’t have enough steam to be consistent with that standard. So if it becomes a point to anyone to make sure the referential integrity, or context, is exact … I’d recommend checking the original publication.
