The Alpstein in Three Dimensions: Fold-And-Thrust Belt Visualization in the Helvetic Zone, Eastern Switzerland

The model also between folding and thrust faulting, we built a 3D geo- clearly shows the lateral extension, the trend, and the logical model of the Helvetic fold-and-thrust belt in eastern variation in displacement along the principal faults. The Switzerland from several existing and two newly drawn reconstruction of horizons in 3D allows the investigation of cross-sections in the Sa¨ntis area. We partly redrew existing cross-sections in any given direction. The 3D model is cross-sections and validated them by checking for line useful for developing and understanding how the internal length balance; to fill areas with no data we drew additional nappe structures, namely folds and thrust faults, change cross-sections. The model was built based on surface along strike due to palaeogeographic and stratigraphic interpolation of the formation interfaces and thrusts variations. Lateral stratigraphy variations correlate with between the cross-sections, which allowed generating eight different deformation responses of the nappe. Changes can main surfaces. In addition, we used cave data to validate occur either abruptly across transverse faults or in a more the final model in depth. The main structural elements in gradual manner. the Sa¨ntis area, the Sa¨ntis Thrust and the Sax-Schwende Fault, are also implemented in the model. -

We appreciate your careful review of the manuscript and the well structured constructive feedback received. Please find our response below that includes descriptions of the resulting changes in the manuscript. The changes made can be found attached to this commentary. We trust that these changes have improved the work, making it suitable for publication in your journal. We are looking forward to your response. General response to all reviewers’ comments Based on the feedback received, we identified three major areas of concern. 1. The use of an unconventional paper structure The initial idea was to show readers three times the proposed process, each time at a different level of detail: the generic methodology, the application of the methodology, and the modelling. This approach led to the reuse of section headings in some cases and a scattered literature review. We agree with the reviewers that this presentation can cause confusion. Therefore, to improve its readability, we restructured our manuscript as follows: (a) (1. -

Varietäten Und Sprachkontakt in Rätoromanischen SMS*
Varietäten und Sprachkontakt in rätoromanischen SMS* Matthias Grünert (Zürich) Abstract As a minority language in Switzerland, the Romansh of the Grisons is exposed to pressure from the dominant language in its region, namely (Swiss) German. Consequently, it has not developed a generally accepted standardized written form, being above all a spoken language, which cedes many written functions to the dominant language. These premises entail a complex spectrum of language variation in informal written use of Romansh in SMS- communication. This variation includes deviations from regional written norms, traits of (dialectal) orality, interference of (Swiss) German, and code-switching to (Swiss) German. Language contact is evident in the fact that Romansh is used for part of an SMS whereas another part of the same SMS sent by the same person may be written in one or even in two varieties of the majority language, i.e. German and Swiss German. Some speakers of Romansh, mainly people who live outside of the traditional linguistic territory, do not write in Romansh at all. It should be noted that the users of Romansh in SMS-communication who participated in this research project are mainly women with university-level educations who are working in the tertiary sector. -

Punt Ruinaulta Vorderhein, Switzerland
Punt Ruinaulta Vorderhein, Switzerland Type of building: Bridge Architect: Walter Bieler AG, Bonaduz www.swiss-architects.com Project link: www.rheinschlucht.ch © own work, Punt Ruinaulta nach Norden, CC BY-SA 3.0 The suspension bridge located in Vorderhein, canton Grisons enables pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Rhine. The Rhine Gorge in Grisons is one of the most majestic and diverse landscapes in the Alps. Surrounded by a lot of lakes and a diversity of wildlife and vegetation the gorge is a very popular destination for hikers, cyclists and canoers. Punt Ruinaulta connects the Swiss communities Trin and Bonaduz and is 105 m long with a span of 75 m. The bridge architecture blends in with the landscape due to its clear design and was awarded for its wood construction. Due to the local conditions the bridge was constructed as a two-span beam without any supporting pillars placed in the river. The construction consists of two concrete pylons and a suspension rope. Prefabricated Stremaform® was used to create the gap within the main pylon which simplified the concreting process. MAX FRANK spacers and distance tubes were also supplied for this project.
