1 Time Champion of Rally Spain (Gravel) 1996 - Pedro Diego - Lancia Delta Integrale Have you heard about the theory of relativity? You must have heard about Albert Einstein! The co-driver (or rally navigator) is the genius who must control TIME and SPACE, as well as MOVEMENT to ensure that the drive leads to a victory. MARC MARTÍ was born in Barcelona 51 years ago. Beginning in 1984 and over the past 34 years, he has occupied the position of co-driver. He is the teammate of one of the best Spanish drivers in the world. On the occasion of his first visit to Quebec to race in the Rallye Auto international de la Baie-des- Chaleurs , we, along with the NACAM Championship, are offering all co-drivers an opportunity to follow a training course to learn more about the responsibilities of the genius seated to the right of the driver, THE CO- DRIVER.     1968 − 1984 Colin: the busy baby by Margaret McRae Colin Steele McRae was born on August 5, 1968. It was a Monday. He was born in the William Smellie Maternity Hospital in Lanark. And he was a much-wanted child – a first grandchild for my parents, however Jim’s mum and dad already had two. It’s from Jim’s mum that Colin took the name Steele – it was her maiden name. We were living in Blackwood, about five miles from Lanark, in those days. And it was to the house in Vere Road, Blackwood that we would have taken Colin home – if we hadn’t still been renovating the cottage at the time. Instead, we went and stayed with my parents for two or three weeks while we finished the work on the house. This was actually quite a God-send as my dad wasn’t feeling too well at the time and having a newborn baby in the house really took his mind off things. He spent all of his time, just focused on the baby. Right from the off, Colin was a busy baby and, unfortunately for us, not a baby to whom sleep came easily or quickly. I think he stayed in our room for about seven weeks, before we knew the time had come for him to go into his own room. I don’t think Colin really slept through the night completely for about two years. Alister, his younger brother, was something of a revelation by comparison and slept really quickly. It’s fair to say, Colin wasn’t an easy baby.

Ogier/Ingrassia claim fourth WRC title in a row with Volkswagen § Crowned with a win: Ogier/Ingrassia wrap up world title after eleven rallies § Title defence sees champions join Kankkunen and Mäkinen in exclusive club § Match point number two for Volkswagen in the Manufacturers’ Championship Wolfsburg (16 October 2016). Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) were crowned World Rally Champions for the fourth time in a row after taking victory at the Rally Spain. They guided their Volkswagen Polo R WRC to a fifth win of the season in Catalonia, finishing ahead of Dani Sordo/Marc Martí (E/E, Hyundai) und Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul (B/B, Hyundai). Their ninth podium in eleven races triggered wild celebrations. The Frenchmen can no longer be caught at the top of the overall standings in the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). Team-mates Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jæger (N/N) went into the Rally Spain as their closest rivals in the title race, but the Norwegians’ hopes of winning the championship were dashed when they were forced to retire from the rally. Eighth place in the Manufacturers’ classifications for Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) means Volkswagen is well- placed to claim its fourth Manufacturers’ title in a row next time out at the Rally Great Britain. Kankkunen, Mäkinen and Ogier – up there with the biggest names in rallying 952 days in a row at the top of the table: Sébastien Ogier is only the third World Rally Champion to be crowned champion four years in a row in the pinnacle of rallying, and the fourth four-time world champion in the history of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).

    76 th Wales Rally GB (December 4-7, 2008) Citroën targeting the championship double in Wales True to tradition, the grand finale of this year's World Rally Championship will take crews to Great Britain for the Wales Rally GB, the 15 th and ultimate encounter of the season which will settle the outcome of the 2008 Manufacturers' title chase. Having made sure of the Drivers' crown with Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena* in Japan, the Citroën Total squad is particularly fired up as it bids to seal the championship double. C4 WRCs have been entered for the five-time World Champions* and their Spanish team-mates Dani Sordo/Marc Martí. Two other C4 WRCs have been entered to contest the British round. They will be in the hands of Conrad Rautenbach/David Senior and of the recently-crowned Junior World Champions* Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia, and both will be prepared and run by PH Sport with the support of technical staff from Citroën Sport The majority of the route of this year's Wales Rally GB, which provides a little more than 348km of competitive action divided into 19 stages, will take competitors north of the Swansea-based service park, and features several notable changes compared with recent years. Hayden and Seb’s first podium of the season in Turkey on the last round was a nice moment and a plus following a measured and intelligent drive, but we know we missed out on so much more. Because of that, there has been a shift in the championship battle and we need to bounce back and do so quickly. We will aim to do just that in Wales. Thierry and Nicolas led in Turkey and showed that the pace of our Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC was strong on the very rough stages we found there. The points they scored for winning the Power Stage after an impressive performance showed what might have been and could yet have a crucial bearing in the final championship reckoning. It is unfortunate that Turkey didn’t go to plan for Hyundai Motorsport, but we have to accept the situation and come back fighting; it is what rallying is all about. The positive things are clear: we have a good car, good drivers, Thierry and Nicolas still lead the championship and were competitive on Rally GB last year. Like Thierry and Nicolas, Andreas and Anders also led in Turkey. Andreas spent much of his early career in Wales and has a good knowledge of the terrain and what he needs to do to be quick.
