Teachers’ notes Land Use and Economic Activity Suggested activities Learning outcomes By the end of the unit students should be able to: • identify different land usage in Northern Ireland • identify the differences between urban and rural land use • understand that land use can be related to the climate of the area • recognise that land use can change over time • know that there are three main types of economic activity • deÞ ne the characteristics of each type of economic activity • identify examples of the three main types of economic activity in Northern Ireland • realise that speciÞ c economic activities are suited to speciÞ c locations • recognise that economic activity changes through time • identify some of the major economic activities that characterise Northern Ireland now and in the past • realise that different economic activities demand different levels of labour and capital.
