THE GANT BRAND
GANT is a brand born on the American East Coast and raised in Europe, built on innovation and quality with a strong focus on shirtmaking. The buzz on the university campuses in the 1950s helped propel our brand forward to become the “Original American Lifestyle Brand”, still a cornerstone for GANT today.
Over the years we’ve expanded and developed globally, and so has our positioning. Offering an aspirational and attainable lifestyle, GANT is the original in American sportswear with European sophistication.
GANT FOOTWEAR COLLECTION
The footwear collection takes modern sportswear to a smart looking level and dresses into society. For the first part of FW21 we will bring royal influences to the streets: a collection that will play with the classics and rewrite the rules and tradition. In the second part of FW21 we move into a ‘70s-inspired theme, a time that resonates well with today’s freedom, equality and sustainability movements, making the ‘70s a continued influence on fashion for the future.
A wide range of sneaker value the heritage of GANT and mix newness with classics. We focus on preppy colors, natural brown tones, solid black and iconic white. We are breathing new life into our basics, because what would American sportswear be without its timeless styles? Volume sneaker come in fresh colors and styles as well a classic Chelsea boots with sleek silhouettes. Younger and braver streetwear consumers enjoy comfort and authenticity with chunky sneakers, new cupsoles and retro runners inspired by the ‘90s in multi color combinations. New silhouettes and sportier lines show our new unisex concept. Trendy and playful customers will love our inspiration from the ‘70s with vintage moccasins, loafers, ballerinas with squared toe and a new GANT ‘70s American boot with stacked mid heel or high shaft.
The still strong outdoor trend presents sneaker with a rugged winter options, Chelsea and winter boots with thicker outsoles in high-quality leathers, oily suedes and soft-surfaced flannel. For this season we added a new function to the collection: we have a waterproofed style for men and women. Branding is an important design feature and used in a new and playful way. At GANT we make conscious choices with the material we use while always trying to raise the bar and continue to improve ourselves within this area. SUSTAINABILITY
SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES FW21
We use a memory foam for our insoles that adapts to the shape of the foot for perfect comfort and regains its shape after the shoes have been worn. In addition, our Recovery Foam is breathable, anti-bacterial and Recycled Recovery Foam anti-static.
We are a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG) and supports sustainable manufacturing via LWG. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an international organization comprised of stakeholders across the LWG Leather whole leather supply chain, working to promote environmental best practice within leather manufacturing and related industries. We mainly use leather from tanneries that have been certified with “gold” by the LWG.
The use of recycled materials protects the environment and safes resources. Less water and energy are needed and waste is avoided. We make sure that our uppers, inner lining and insoles Recycled are made by using recycled materials. Innovative upper materials such as 3D knit, nylon and mesh are made of up to 100% recycled material.
We attach great importance to using high-quality raw materials for our shoes. For our insoles we use leather that has been tanned without the use of chrome salts. For leather to stay natural. Chrome-free Insole

It´s more limited range of styles made without compromising but still with GANT heritage in mind. There is an importance to present this direction to create interest around GANT and also support the more classic styles on Modern Sportswear. Even though styles have a classic look its more the volume and proportions that makes them stand out. Here we create with confidence and its important to have the right channels to reach the correct trend aware GANT consumer. For FW 21 we focus on color black with a semi-shiny finish.

Urban Streetwear is a concept where the inspiration is influenced by GANT´s history back in the 80s and 90s. The focus here is to reach the younger and braver streetwear consumer, to show them GANT’s true heritage and to take the authentic spirit of the brand into the future. This is a new direction for GANT, where the branding has a playful, distinct and powerful language taken from the GANT archive. We see big potential in this new take on GANT, this is the way forward to build the bridge to the next generation of GANT fans. The focus is on sneaker styles, but also a modern take on work boots and an even younger version of the classic indoor slipper. Shapes and volumes play a more important role, and have a more edgy look to attract the younger consumer. Even more important for this costumer is to highlight the use of recycled features which we have integrated in both the uppers and linings. The family of colors used in Urban Streetwear is limited, based on white as the essential, and spiced up with preppy, brighter sidekicks.

Classic Prep is the foundation of the collection in which we create the preppy essentials in a contemporary way. In this segment, we show appreciation of GANT’s heritage and bring the most successful concepts from previous seasons forward into the FW21 collection. In Classic Prep, we place a wide range of styles, from work boots to more moderate sneakers, but also rugged winter options and, of course, our Chelsea boot family, ‘King of Chelsea’s’ as we call them. For FW21, we will introduce a new concept with waterproof options, this will be a boost for Modern Sportswear and a new functional injection to the collection. We believe that by implementing more sustainable features, we make the footwear collection stronger and more desirable for today’s consumer. With the good balance of design, quality and price, together with more sustainable features in combination with a strong brand awareness, we have the formula to win over other brands on the market. Apart from the focus on more recycled materials, we also work with leather and suede that are certified by the Leather Working Group; in this way, we have better control over the system and can work towards a more sustainable way of developing and producing leathers. When it comes to the color range, the base consists of natural tones in combination with more muted shades of preppy colors.

The combination of the upgraded look of both the material and sole, at a commercial price level, makes the Brookly concept very strong on the market under the GANT name. The idea behind this project was to develop a timeless boot style with a balance between well-dressed and rugged. The leathers are finished with love, and the oily suede are carefully treated. We focus on the Chelsea style with the rich looking elastic with mixed textures, and with a superbly executed GANT-logo embroidery.

Introduced in the FW20 season and well received from the very beginning, this is our most sophisticated concept within the autumn drop. We focus on the premium treated leathers both on high cuts, and shoe styles. The brogue styles on Flairville are an ideal fit for the classic GANT consumer. A refined Diamond-G logo works as a discrete branding for the style. Premium calf lining and nicely brushed leathers are important elements in this nicely executed concept.

Kyree is made to be a more rugged version of St. Akron, both the sole and upper material have a more treated finish. In this concept, we focus on the lace versions, where the mid-cut desert boots have been performing very well on the market. This unisex concept is made with technical features, such as outsole stabilizer and rubber-coated parts. The biggest inspiration comes from the 70s, but we are also seeing a lot of modern tailoring with a royal flair. Key item for next season will be a new moccasin which is based on a real vintage style from the 70s. The Native Americana 70s high-shaft boot in rich brown leather is also a statement product. The outsoles are becoming thicker and we focus on details such as welts and guards. The shaft silhouette is tighter and higher and we use details in gold, such as hardwear and crown embroideries. Seasonal materials are tweed, snake, and pony.

Here, we focus on a younger and braver streetwear consumer. Comfort and authenticity is important, and we look to the 90s for inspiration. The branding is an important design feature and should be used in a new and playful way. Styles are more unisex and we therefore see similar constructions for both men and women. Key styles are mainly sneakers, like a classic white heavy cup-sole, trainers with sporty technical features and preppy retro runners. All the new constructions have been taken to the edge in terms of shapes and volumes. The branding is unique and only for this group, taken from the GANT archive from the 80s and 90s. This is a completely new take for GANT footwear and we see big potential for growth in this segment. We use materials such as recycled pile, nylon, mesh, jersey, leathers and suede. Preppy bright colors are used with white as the essential.

With the focus on a preppy and smart look, we have taken the essential footwear collection to a new level. Within this segment, we show appreciation of GANT’s heritage and bring the most successful lines forward into the FW21 collection. Sneakers are still very strong with the focus on preppy colors, natural brown tones, and solid black and white. A new group in this segment is the ’hiker sneaker’ which is completely waterproof. We think that our take on the big outdoor trend is still very strong this season. Step-by-step, we are continuing our journey towards more sustainable products. By implementing more sustainable features, we make the footwear collection stronger and more desirable for today’s consumer. For example, we work with leathers and suede that are certified by the Leather Working Group and we use recycled linings, insoles and outsoles. For our casual smart segment, our essential Chelsea boots are the key styles and, for this season, we have added some high-shafted Chelseas as a new update. The lace-up boots are coming up strongly, the same with low shoes and loafers. All the brown tones will become important colors. Wool-check, pony and shearling are the seasonal new materials.
