Antônio Gilberto Costa1 Nos Primeiros Anos Do Século XVIII Já Eram
Origin, Historical and Landscape Evolution of the Expedicionários Square, São João Del Rei-Mg
460 ORIGIN, HISTORICAL AND LANDSCAPE EVOLUTION OF THE EXPEDICIONÁRIOS SQUARE, SÃO JOÃO DEL REI-MG SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE Origin, historical and landscape evolution of the Expedicionários Square, São João Del Rei-MG(1) ALINE SILVA MUNDIM(2), PATRÍCIA DUARTE DE OLIVEIRA PAIVA(2), RAFAEL DE BRITO SOUZA(2), FRANCILENE DE LOURDES BONIFÁCIO(2) and SCHIRLEY FÁTIMA NOGUEIRA DA SILVA CAVALCANTE ALVES(3) ABSTRACT The squares built in Brazil from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, especially those located along the Royal Road, have characteristic traces and species, and generally had their origin near or as part of a church. The city of São João Del Rei-MG emerged in this region, specifically in the Old Path of the Royal Road [Estrada Real], from gold exploration in the eighteenth century. Thus, this study aimed at the historical and landscape survey of the Expedicionários Square, one of the squares located in the historic center of the city of São João Del Rei-MG. The methodology used consisted of an inventive analysis, associated with a subjective analysis, which allowed the study of the evolution of the area, based on the analysis of morphological changes that occurred in the square by different interventions. The value and uses by the population were also considered, at the different evolution periods of the place. Based on the information collected, modifications both in the structure and in the toponymy of this square were observed. The layout of the square has characteristics of an eclectic style, with irregular stones in its interior and beds with geometric paths, typical of the urbanization of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. -
Towards a Digital Twin for Heritage Interpretation
TOWARDS A DIGITAL TWIN FOR HERITAGE INTERPRETATION From HBIM to AR visualization ELOISA DEZEN-KEMPTER1, DAVI LOPES MEZENCIO2, ERICA DE MATOS MIRANDA3, DANILO PICO DE SÁ4 and ULISSES DIAS5 1,2,3,4,5School of Technology, UNICAMP [email protected] 2,3,4{d169759|e155254| d214848}@dac.unicamp.br [email protected] Abstract. Data-driven Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology has brought new tools to efficiently deal with the tension between the real and the virtual environments in the field of Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operation (AECO). For historic assets, BIM represents a paradigm shift, enabling better decision-making about preventive maintenance, heritage management, and interpretation. The potential application of the Historic-BIM is creating a digital twin of the asset. This paper deals with the concept of a virtual environment for the consolidation and dissemination of heritage information. Here we show the process of creating interactive virtual environments for the Pampulha Modern Ensemble designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1940s, and the workflow to their dissemination in an AR visualization APP. Our results demonstrate the APP feasibility to the Pampulha’s building interpretation. Keywords. Augmented Reality (AR); Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM); Heritage Interpretation; Modern Architecture. 1. Introduction The Digital Twin (DT) can be understood as a probabilistic, multiscale, multiphysics integrated simulation of a system that uses the best physical models, sensors, and history to mirror the life cycle of its corresponding twin. The DT can also predict the system’s response to security-critical events and uncover previously unknown issues before they become critical by comparing current and predicted responses. -

A Memória Toponímica Da Estrada Real E Os Escritos Dos Viajantes Naturalistas Dos Séculos XVIII E XIX
ABSTRACT Human beings occupy a physical space and, as they need to locate themselves geographically in the environment, they had to name the physical-social environment around. This process of name giving is a sine qua non condition that assures man’s survival. Through Toponymy, a branch of Onomastics that studies the origin and the meaning of the names of places, it is possible to analyze the close relationship developed between men and topos. This work focus on the toponymic study of the Royal Road (Estrada Real). And takes into account reports from Naturalist Travelers of the XVIII and centuries, who traveled through these paths. -

ABSTRACT: Founded in 1698, Ouro Preto was, during two centuries, the capital ofthe State of Minas Gerais and stage of an intense nationalist feeling, that had influence on the independence ofBrazil. As an alive testimony of secular traditions the city constitutes object of special cares in order to safeguard its integrity as the world largest baroque urban settle, and guarantee its historical, artistic and environrnental heritage. In this sense, the Federal University of Ouro Preto proposes an Architecture and Urban Studies Course in order to face the social demand of the 21 st century for professionals of the territorial planning as well as the preservation of its cultural values. The formation of criticai mass on this professional performance area represents a most significant institutional relationship between the academic world and the daily community life, the urban space production and the destinies of Ouro Preto and its historical surrounding area.
