Our shelter never fails-Meet finger tips from both hands above head. Our Helper is always with us-With arms raised, point to heaven with both pointer fingers. Make fists and pull down to sides of body. And so we will prevail-Both thumbs point to chest, then R arm (hand fisted) pumps in the air two times. We will not fear-Cross arms in front of body forming an X. For our God is near-With arms raised, point to heaven with both pointer fingers. Make fists and pull down to sides of body. We won’t be afraid-Cross arms in front of body to form X. He won’t be delayed-Throw both arms down to sides of body. We will stand brave-Legs slightly parted, fisted hands held straight down at sides of body. It’s our God who saves-Both pointers point to heaven, cup L hand over R hand. They can’t hurt our souls-Shake head “no”, pat chest with both hands two times. For He’s in control-Point to heaven with both pointer fingers, with elbows tucked at sides. He is our God. He is our God.-With arms lifted to heaven, point to heaven with pointer fingers x3. He is our God. He is our God.-With arms lifted to heaven, point to heaven with pointer fingers x3. When attacked, in Him we’ll hide-Bring both hands up in front of face as a shield. To Jesus we will yield-ASL R hand, middle finger to L palm. L hand, middle finger to R palm. Bow with Larm behind body and R arm at waist in front of body. We’re glad that Christ is on our side-Splay fingers out with hands at each cheek on face.Raise arms to heaven and point to heaven. Then pull fists down, with elbows at waist. He’s God and man, our shield-Fist L hand and raise L arm to side of face. Fist R hand and raise R arm to side of face. • Finding Our Voices, Singing Our Truths: Examining How Quality of Life Domains Manifested in a Singing Group for Autistic Adults
RESEARCH | PEER REVIEWED Finding Our Voices, Singing Our Truths: Examining How Quality of Life Domains Manifested in a Singing Group for Autistic Adults Laurel Young 1 * 1 Concordia University, Montréal, Canada *[email protected] Received: 14 September 2018 Accepted: 17 February 2020 Published: 1 July 2020 Editor: Avi Gilboa Reviewers: Chava Weiss, Susanna Cohen Abstract A growing body of literature indicates that participation in singing groups has a range of health and wellbeing benefitsor f the general adult population and for various adult cohorts with specific challenges/needs. However, no research had been con- ducted on potential benefits ofoup gr singing for Autistic adults. Furthermore, the neurodiversity movement rejects a biomedical approach to autism and champions the need for supports that will empower individuals on the autism spectrum to par- ticipate in society on their own terms. This aligns well with community music therapy (CoMT) philosophy which maintains that all persons have a right to access and par- ticipate in music experiences that promote personal health and wellbeing as well as serve as an expression of individuality, culture, and community. Therefore, the pre- sent research investigated how quality of life (QoL) variables (considered as com- ponents/determinants of health and wellbeing) manifested for eight Autistic adults who participated in 12 group singing sessions. A mixed methods concurrent transfor- mative design was used with priority given to qualitative data. Results illustrate how subdomains contained within overarching QoL domains of Being, Belonging, and Be- coming were realized by the group participants. Limitations of the study as well as implications for practice and research are presented.

Say it with us! Great. Now, this Activity Book has been really fun to make, and we learned a lot along the way. Like, for instance: the thing we found out about the word TTGtMYOPN is that after we encoded it with a proprietary steganophographic encoder ring, hand-delivered the encoded message to Chicago by non-Amtrak train in the dark of night, and secretly coerced our our old college roommate, Pete (who really needs to fgure out what he’s doing with his life), into decoding it without even realizing he’d received it, and then absentmindedly speaking the sounds aloud to himself—that the word, TTGtMYOPN, sounded, to Pete’s newish-but-already- serious girlfriend, Hannah, like the Esperanto word for fne-leather-shoe-of- excellent-craftsmanship-but-not-really-my-style. Now, Pete’s girlfriend, Hannah, had spent some time WWOOFing in the ancestral home of Esperanto before settling down in Chicago to work as a nanny while interning at a public radio station—and, after consulting her blog entries from her farmer days, various dictionaries, and no less than three Ofcial Chicago City Linguists, found out that TTGtMYOPN literally is that word in Esperanto.

The characters, who have trained since as early as age twelve and as late as fourteen – with heavy combat training for up to a year and as little as six months, are well prepared by the Tokien system. Demonstrating their Link-worthy will be a challenge that none of them can fully imagine, as this year is the unveiling of a Tokien- engineered tech development that will undoubtedly change the course humanity rides in the closing of the 22nd century.
