Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon for William Jefferson Dabbs, 74-year-old former Cookeville policman who died in Detroit, MI, after a long illness. L. N. Moody, Church of Christ minister, conducted the services at the Carver Funeral Home. Burial was in City Cemetery. Mr. Dabbs was an officer for 27 years before retiring. He moved to Detroit shortly after his retirement. Survivors include four sons, E. J. Dabbs, Dayton, OH, B. C. Dabbs, Akron, OH, W. H. Dabbs, and W. J. Dabbs, Jr., Detroit; three daughters, Mrs. Nettie Herod, Mrs. Gladys Knight, Detroit, Mrs. Mary Alice Dewitt, Nashville; a brother, E. J. Dabbs, Asbury, KY, and a sister, Mrs. D. NASHVILLE — Funeral services for Mr. Jim Dakouvanos, 73 ,of Cookeville, will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 2 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4905 Franklin Pike, Nashville, Tennessee. Interment will be held at 3 p.m., also on Monday, at Cookeville City Cemetery. Fr. Gregory Hohnholt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Jim died suddenly on Friday morning, Sept. 29, 2017, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in White County, Tennessee. Jim was born Aug. 10, 1944, in Agia Paraskevi Conitsis, Greece, to the late Yanni and Alexandra Stratsianh Dakouvanos. He attended school in Greece and served as a member of the Greek military. Jim moved to America in 1975, along with his newlywed wife, Angela. He had a lifelong passion for cooking and worked in various restaurants. He and his family operated Gondola’s Pizza House in Cookeville from 1986-2002. He opened Yanni’s Grille in Sparta in 2000, and worked together with his family to build a successful restaurant. He was a hard worker and especially enjoyed interacting with his customers. Jim was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Nashville. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Angela Hatoupis Dakouvanos; sons and daughter in law, Alex Dakouvanos and John and Nikki Dakouvanos; grandchildren (his pride and joy) Ava and Alex Dakouvanos, all of Cookeville; three brothers and three sisters, all of Greece. Wakolbinger On October 9, 2012, Judge Grady, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, dismissed a copyright-infringement action against rock band Mötley Crüe for lack of personal jurisdiction.1 The suit was brought by Ron Toma, who owns copyrights in certain photographs of band members Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee. One of those photographs was a close up of singer Vince Neil’s waist area, featuring a prominent studded belt buckle (the “Belt Buckle Image”). The photograph was taken by Michael Pinter in 1981 and used as the cover artwork for Mötley Crüe’s debut album, “Too Fast for Love.” Toma acquired the copyright in that image in 2008 through assignment. In September 2011, he filed a complaint in the Northern District of Illinois 1 Toma v. Motley Crue, Inc., No. 11 C 6766 (N.D. Ill. Oct. 9, 2012).     THE LEGACY CONTINUES… Vince Neil, the legendary front man of Mötley Crüe, is an international superstar, accomplished businessman and heartfelt philanthropist. His unmistakable voice leads some of the greatest rock songs of a generation in‐ cluding “Wild Side”, “Shout at the Devil,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Kickstart My Heart,” “Same Ol’ Situation,” and many others. Raised on the tough streets of Compton, California, Vince Neil fell in love with music as a child, developing a broad vocabulary that ranged from classic Motown to Hard Rock. As a teenager, he began performing with local bands and soon discovered both a passion for the stage and a natural talent as a singer and performer. He fronted the popular band Rock Candy before reuniting with high school buddy Tommy Lee in 1981, estab‐ lishing his spot in rock and roll history with the formation of Mötley Crüe. Mötley Crüe’s epic 34‐year run included countless multi‐platinum releases, more than 22 hit singles, 100 mil‐ lion albums sold and dozens of global tours with sold out arenas, inclusive of some of the largest venues in the world. The band completed “The Final Tour” on New Year’s Eve 2015, closing the book that told the story of their iconic career. Despite the Mötley Crüe departure from the rock world, however, Vince Neil shows no sign of slow down, continuing to carry on with the unending “The Legacy Continues Tour”.     Re)contextualising Audience Receptions of Reality TV Carolyn Michelle, University of Waikato, New Zealand Volume 6, Issue 1 (May 2009) Abstract This paper seeks to recontextualise key findings from recent studies of reality TV audiences in light of insights drawn from across the wider field. It suggests that modes of engagement and response adopted by different reality TV audiences appear broadly consistent with those identified in relation to a wide variety of genres viewed in diverse national contexts, as charted in the Composite Multi-dimensional Model of audience reception (Michelle 2007). To further illustrate these parallels, this paper analyses online audience responses to a specific event that occurred during the 2006 reality game show, Rock Star: Supernova, applying the Composite Multi-dimensional Model as its conceptual schema. In so doing, this paper seeks to demonstrate how we might move beyond the traditional focus on specificities of genre and format to recognise and begin to theorise broader continuities in the nature of audience engagement that may persist beyond the transition to new, hybrid, and increasingly interactive media formats.
