You’ve no doubt heard about the Schengen rules. The new regulations appear to require foreigners to stay out of the EU three months for every three months in. What the vast majority of people, both in positions of authority and living here illegally, seem unaware of is a potential loophole: citizens from countries exempt from such obligations 14–23/3 (according to an agreement from 2004) won’t necessarily have to wait 90 days to re-enter the EU. These countries include the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, and several others. Dead Kids mix a whole lot of sound with provocative lyrics and energy like they’re Energizer Bunnies on crystal meth. A Dead Kids’ concert is defi nitely a must see for anyone interested 5/3 in what’s on the post-punk fusion horizon, as they are one of the movers and shakers in this particular world and they’re not afraid to let the world know that their Radioclash Tradeshow hard-core addictive sound is as good as it gets. Abstract This thesis examines written, audio-visual and musical representations of real-life British serial killers Myra Hindley and Ian Brady (the ‘Moors Murderers’) and Peter Sutcliffe (the ‘Yorkshire Ripper’), from the time of their crimes to the present day, and their proliferation beyond the cases’ immediate historical-legal context. Through the theoretical construct ‘Northientalism’ I interrogate such representations’ replication and engagement of stereotypes and anxieties accruing to the figure of the white working- class ‘Northern’ subject in these cases, within a broader context of pre-existing historical trajectories and generic conventions of Northern and true crime representation. Interrogating changing perceptions of the cultural functions and meanings of murderers in late-capitalist socio-cultural history, I argue that the underlying structure of true crime is the counterbalance between the exceptional and the everyday, in service of which its second crucial structuring technique – the depiction of physical detail – operates.

    Brainwashed - Whitehouse, "Never Forget Death", "Halogen" Written by Creaig Dunton Sunday, 03 June 2012 22:03 - Last Updated Sunday, 03 June 2012 23:20 These two albums are two thirds of what I consider to be Whitehouse's most idiosyncratic, and therefore most compelling phase in their 26-plus years of activity. Culminating with 1995's Qual ity Time , which I have discussed at length before , the phase began here, with probably their most musical and understated (in relative terms, of course) works, respectively. Susan Lawly Quality Time was my initial exposure to Whitehouse, but by the time 1998's Mummy and Daddy was released, I had pretty much already digested much of their discography. Looking over their body of work, I see four distinct phases in their albums, from lyrics to vocals to the noises that which accompanies them. The first phase, beginning with 1980's Birthdeath Experience up until 1983's legendary Right to Kill perhaps shows their greatest and most productive evolution.
