Rally Events Programme 2020 Rally Events Programme 2020 We are pleased to present details of rally events for 2020 in the UK and overseas. This is not an exhaustive list and there are many other events in Europe and round the World that we would be happy to discuss. The 2020 season starts with Below Zero Ice driving – see below. Pages 2-7 show rally events that are taking place around the world with pages 8 – 9 showing a selection of Regularity events on offer. Below Zero Ice Driving Season runs from January – March 2020 Tuthill Porsche’s world-famous ice driving experience is back for 2020. Kicking off in January and running through to mid March, the unique Below Zero Ice Driving format of full days in a choice of classic Porsches over exciting courses on the frozen lakes of Sweden attracts keen drivers from all over the world. Our instructors are all champion rally drivers and previous clients run the full spectrum of enthusiasts, from famous F1 drivers to weekend racers and Porsche enthusiasts celebrating big birthdays. P a g e 1 | 9 RALLY EVENTS Mallorca Rally (Rally Isla Mallorca) March 12 th to 14 th Organisers: Classic Car Club Mallorca Website: rallyislamallorca.com Mallorca (Majorca) is the largest of Spain's Balearic Islands and is famous for beautiful beaches, sheltered coves, limestone mountains and Roman and Moorish remains. The island offers great night life in Palma, the Moorish Almudaina royal palace and 13th- century Santa María Cathedral. Stone- built villages include Pollença, with its art galleries and annual classical music festival, and hillside Fornalutx, surrounded by citrus plantations. First run in 2005, the annual Rally Clasico Isla Mallorca has become one of Europe’s most popular classic rally events. Entry lists usually top eighty cars for the three-day event. The rally invites entries from both competition and regularity crews. Both groups offer unforgettable fun driving the magnificent roads of this beautiful island. We can provide on event support for this event. Rally Moritz Costa Brava March 13th to 14 th Organisers: Rally Classics Website: rallyclassics.org The Rally Costa Brava is the oldest in Spain. Girona will host this legendary event, followed by many thousands of spectators, both on the podium of the Avenue Ramon Folch and in the Service Park of Fontajau- Domeny. The organisers are expecting an entry list of more than 150 vehicles. There will be three categories: Sporting, Legend (exhibition), and Regularity (80 and 60). Total stages of between 140-150kms. We can provide support for this event. P a g e 2 | 9 Maroc Historic Rally March 23rd – 28 th Organisers: YL Historic Rally Events Website: yl-historicrallyevents.com Run across the wilds of North Africa, the incredible Maroc Historic revives the original Rally of Morocco. Crews experience a breath-taking mix of speed, scenery and cultural immersion in one of the world’s most ancient civilisations. The rally prides itself upon a warm welcome from the entire country of Morocco and the Saharan stages must be experienced. The event is renowned as a true adventure within easy reach of Europe and has its fair share of regular entrants. The entry list therefore fills up quickly. Put this one on your bucket list! Targa Tasmania April 25 th – May 2 nd Organisers: Targa Australia Pty Ltd Website: targa.com.au The famous Targa Tasmania combines the best features of the Mille Miglia, Targa Florio and the Tour de Corse to create the world’s largest tarmac rally. Participants experience incredible roads through the World Heritage wilderness of Tasmania, where exciting challenges are waiting to be conquered. The Targa welcomes entries from competition and regularity crews. Travelling over 2,000 kilometres in six days, the rally begins in Launceston and tours the island’s beach-lined coasts and mountainous World Heritage zone. The event is also known for the wonderful local produce to be found in some of the finest wine cellars and restaurants surrounding any rally! Your trip could also be extended to take in Australia, or why not ship the car on to the Silver Fern Rally? See below. P a g e 3 | 9 Modena Cento Ore June 2 nd – 7th Organisers: Canossa Events Website: modenacentooreclassic.it Modena Cento Ore is the jewel in the crown of historic European road racing experiences. Run through the mountains of Northern Italy, the event includes race laps on Italy’s most famous circuits, including Monza, Mugello and Imola, with the additional thrills of night racing at Misano. There are also several hillclimbs and special stages. At the end of each day, participants savour the best hotels of Rimini, Florence, Forte dei Marmi and Modena, with dinners in unique locations featuring great chefs and the best Italian wines. Open to competition and regularity crews, grids are kept to 100 cars for maximum conviviality. We can provide on event support for this event. Midnight Sun Rally Dates tbc – usually around July Organisers: Kungliga Automobil Klubben Website: midnattssolsrallyt.com/content/en/ KAK Midnattssolsrallyt is Sweden’s greatest classic rally. Headquartered in one of the country’s historic cities (Orebro and Vasteras have been used in previous events), the Midnight Sun is open to cars built before 1981 and invites both regularity and competition entries. We can provide on-event support for this event. The Swedish forests create a special environment and Swedish rally fans are amongst the world’s most passionate. Midnight Sun is your chance to experience both of these aspects and more. Sweden’s rich cultural heritage, epic scenery and peerless gastronomy reaches a glorious crescendo in July, making this event a wonderful midsummer break through a vivid Scandinavian landscape. P a g e 4 | 9 Balkan Rally Dates: September tbc Organisers: Rallye Breslau International Assn Website: balkanclassic.com The 2020 Balkan Classic Rally runs in September: dates TBA. Rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s must-do rallies, the biennial Balkan Classic is a six-day marathon with one day of shakedown and five days of rallying through some of Eastern Europe’s most beautiful landscapes from the sea to the mountains. The organisers guarantee reliable rally control, with the highest level of safety and professional timing systems. Accommodation for all team members is at 4-star hotels and the rally has earned a great reputation for superb hospitality with a family feel over an event totalling some 1,500 kilometres. We can provide on-event support for this event. Silver Fern Rally November 20 th – 28 th Organisers: Ultimate Rally Group Ltd Website: silverfernrally.co.nz Silver Fern is an iconic seven-day marathon rally with origins dating back to the 1970s. It is for 2WD vehicles only. The 2020 Silver Fern Rally takes place on New Zealand’s North Island, gathering in Rotorua on Saturday 21st November 2020. The proposed route includes up to 1100 kms of closed road stages over seven days. What could be finer than enjoying early summer in New Zealand from behind the wheel of your classic rally car! P a g e 5 | 9 The British and Belgian Historic Rally Championships offer experienced competitors the perfect chance to brush up on their skills, while also offering novice crews the opportunity to learn their craft and earn the signatures required for National and International Rally Licences. The one-day format of these events makes them perfect for aspiring rally competitors who are juggling a busy schedule! Suitable for experts and novices alike, the 3,600 km Southern Cross Safari promises diverse wildlife, varied landscapes and cultural experiences on exhilarating drives across East Africa’s most exclusive game reserves.

    March 31, 2017 Toyota Motor Corporation Motorsport Marketing Division Tour de Corse: Preview Twists and turns of Corsica up next for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team and its drivers, Jari-Matti Latvala and Juho Hänninen head to the island of Corsica for round four of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) from April 6 to 9. The classic Tour de Corse is Franceʼs round of the WRC and the first pure asphalt event of the season, following the ice-coated roads of Monte-Carlo, snow of Sweden and gravel of Mexico. Learning and developing the Yaris WRC remains the clear priority in the first season of Toyotaʼs WRC return, despite an extremely positive start with the team currently second in both the manufacturersʼ and driversʼ standings. Yaris WRC test An event that returned to the calendar in 2015 after six years away, the Tour de Corse is famous for its narrow and twisty asphalt stages, which give it the nickname ʻThe Rally of 10,000 Cornersʼ. With mountainous stages lined by rock faces on one side and steep drops on the other, as well as numerous surface changes, there is plenty to catch drivers out. Abrasive asphalt and long stages also mean that tyre wear is a factor. The rally is based in Bastia but will begin in the islandʼs capital Ajaccio on Friday April 7, with the dayʼs action consisting of two loops of two stages, averaging 30 kilometres each, which are run twice. There is no full midday service; instead just a change of tyres.

    1968 − 1984 Colin: the busy baby by Margaret McRae Colin Steele McRae was born on August 5, 1968. It was a Monday. He was born in the William Smellie Maternity Hospital in Lanark. And he was a much-wanted child – a first grandchild for my parents, however Jim’s mum and dad already had two. It’s from Jim’s mum that Colin took the name Steele – it was her maiden name. We were living in Blackwood, about five miles from Lanark, in those days. And it was to the house in Vere Road, Blackwood that we would have taken Colin home – if we hadn’t still been renovating the cottage at the time. Instead, we went and stayed with my parents for two or three weeks while we finished the work on the house. This was actually quite a God-send as my dad wasn’t feeling too well at the time and having a newborn baby in the house really took his mind off things. He spent all of his time, just focused on the baby. Right from the off, Colin was a busy baby and, unfortunately for us, not a baby to whom sleep came easily or quickly. I think he stayed in our room for about seven weeks, before we knew the time had come for him to go into his own room. I don’t think Colin really slept through the night completely for about two years. Alister, his younger brother, was something of a revelation by comparison and slept really quickly. It’s fair to say, Colin wasn’t an easy baby.

    2021 MEDIA GUIDE Arctic Rally Finland February 26 - 28, 2021 ROUND 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 Arctic Rally Finland February 26 - 28, 2021 HYUNDAI’S HELLO Given the freezing temperatures outside, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Arctic Rally Finland and for the first of what we hope will be two visits by the WRC and Hyundai Motorsport to the country in 2021. Before I underline the team’s hopes and expectations for this event, I wish to acknowledge all the hard work that’s gone into putting on this rally in such a short amount of time. The efforts of AKK Sports and all the volunteers, particularly in the context of COVID-19, has really impressed me so a big thank you to them. It’s fair to say we showed our limits on Rallye Monte-Carlo and found ourselves licking our wounds and trying to get ahead. Unfortunately, it didn’t work there and after making some changes to our approach we start the second round of the season hoping it will be much better than the first. Having wished a fond farewell to Carlos del Barrio after Monte as he prepared for the next chapter of his career, we are pleased to welcome back Craig and Paul for the start of their half-season campaign in a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. We know very well their ability and determination as they try to make a strong start to their season. As well as our regular World Rally Car drivers, we are giving a big chance to a really promising youngster, Oliver Solberg.

Illustrated by Ryuji Shishido, the straight lines drawn on the bottom-right represent tarmac roads used for Rally Japan, while the white curved shape portrays smoke generated by tires and road surface when World Rally cars drive aggressively.
