The Whirling Thunder Wellness Program sponsors a number of elementary & middle school boys & girls teams in basketball leagues in nearby Sioux City, Iowa. Here is the 4th grade boys team playing at Hayworth Hoops on the eastside, with Coach Randy DeCora. The boys & girls get some good physical conditioning and get some game time experience.

Politics is a “necessary evil” of all organized, structured societies of men. Governments of all kinds are “political systems” created by people seeking the best means of controlling their society. To most of us “politics” is a dirty word and we all try to avoid the label of “poli- tician” because of the negative image that word creates of a person. Most people think that politics is a process of graft, corruption and incompetence. Most people think that all politicians are morally bankrupt. The truth of the matter is that poli- tics is both an art and a science when practiced at its highest level. When we let our human weaknesses such as Ego-tripping, seeking revenge and per- sonal gratifi cation get into our political systems is when politics is reduced to its lowest level. If we ever hope to attain a better life for ourselves, as individuals and as an Indian Nation, we must strive to practice our politics at the highest level possible. This means we must learn the art of compromise to secure to our selves internal tribal serenity. We must also learn the science of political processes to achieve maximum impact with all the external political powers with which we must inter-act on a daily basis as a sovereign Indian government. We must learn to leave our “personali- ties” out of our political decisions. We must learn to deal solely with the issues and to make our political decisions based on facts rather than emotions. Our tribal government enjoys a na- tional reputation of being progressive, stable, responsive and equitable. Every national leader, Indian and non-Indian, who works with our tribe in any capac- ity generally speaks highly of our tribal government. Local dissident views of our tribal government are due to misinfor- mation and disinformation. So, we must strive for better communication within our tribal community to better educate Winnebago Public School wants to keep you informed! ourselves as to what is really happening and to generate greater cooperation in Winnebago Public School attempts page of the website. Big Daddy’s Famous Liver & Onions

Serving size: Handful of liver for 4 people, or 2 handful’s of liver for 2 people

Ingredients/and amounts: (1) 1 pound beef liver (2) 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix (3) 1 can Cream of Chicken soup (4) 1 big yellow onion (5) 1 cup milk (6) 2 sticks of margarine

Cooking methods/preparation: cut up onion. Melt margarine in pan. Add Onion. Sautee & lay on bottom of 9x12 inch cake pan. Set aside. Drop another stick of margarine into pan. Melt. Coat liver in fl our. Brown on both sides in pan. Lay on bed of onions. In sauce pan warm can of Cream of Chicken soup with 1 cup milk, add packet of Lipton onion soup mix. Mix and pour over browned liver. Time cook and temperature: Cover and cook for 45 minutes to an hour at 350 degrees in conven- tional oven. The longer you cook it, the tender…er, it will get, but don’t cook it too long, it will dry out. Serving methods/serving size: Best when tender liver is placed on a bed of Commod Rice. About a cup of rice and one chunk of mouth watering liver should do, accompanied by about 1 cup of onion goo. Comments: I don’t know how healthy this dish is, but it’s the only way I can eat liver. The salt from the cream of chicken soup and onion soup mix, not to mention the margarine alone could probably clog up a major artery and send your blood pressure sky high. But, you’ll be so busy enjoying, (of all things- liver), you won’t be thinking about your health. Wine suggestions: Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill optional, or some TJ Swan Easy Nights. INGREDIENTS: 2 teaspoons Vanilla 1 1/2 cups Margarine 4 teaspoons Baking Powder 1 1/2 cups Sugar 5 1/2 cups Flour 4 Eggs You can substitute Crisco baking bars for the margarine, otherwise nothing else can be substituted. No commod egg mix, or commod butter or commod shortening. Commod fl our is good though, as long as you save enough for Ga-ga to make some frybread for Christmas Dinner. DIRECTIONS: -In a big bowl combine sugar, margarine, eggs and vanilla. I’d play some Chubby Checker on the ipod amp and turn it up, and do the Twist while mixing it up real good. -In a separate bowl combine the fl our & baking powder. -Combine the ingredients from both bowls and mix thoroughly. -Let your cookie dough chill in the refrigerator for about 1/2 an hour. If you got your electricity shut off, you could probably set it outside, just don’t let it freeze, or let the neighborhood ghetto kids get away with it. -After your dough is ‘chilled’ take a rolling pin, throw some fl our on the counter and on the rolling pin. They have rolling pins at the DG. Roll out the cookie dough and cut with your favorite holiday cookie cutters, or if you’re broke, use the lid from your WIC peanut butter jar, or an empty commod pineapple can. -Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Bake cookie’s about 6-7 minutes. Let cookie’s cool, frost and decorate. You can use that box of left over ‘red hots’ from Halloween to make eyes and faces on your Snowman or lights on you Christmas Trees. Masthead Scene -And I like using cake frosting, that homemade powdered sugar stuff is too fl at, and less fattening.
