MISSION STATEMENT

The University of Maiduguri shall be an institution dedicated to scholarship and learning in the arts , scienc- es, humanities and technology, and the development of moral and civic character of all persons who pass through her portals. The University shall facilitate and advance scholarship and learning, especially in the light of her location in the Sahelian environment in the North-Eastern Nigeria, and at the cross-roads of Afri- ca and Middle-Eastern culture.

VISION STATEMENT The University of Maiduguri apart from achieving competence in the basic arts and sciences, aims at excel- lence in agriculture, pastoralism, , human and veterinary and information technology as well as in arid zone, trans-Saharan and inter-African peace and strategic studies. The University also aims to promote the development of private and public morality, discipline, accountability and probity, and also international cooperation through participation, research and dissemination of information.

The month of July came packed with great activities and events for the ever eventful University of Maiduguri. Bulletin reporters were there to capture for you all the exciting news at the Convocation Ceremony of the University of Lagos where our very own Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Indimi, OFR was deservedly honoured with an honorary degree. Back on campus, you will get to read about the Training in the Use of Basic Instructional Equipment organised by the Centre for Instructional Technology for some academic staff across the University. Also in this edition, another giant stride for the University as it gets set to launch its television station. Read about the Eid Adha prayer in the University as well as the send-forth party for the outgoing Students Union Government (SUG) Caretaker Committee members as well as the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected SUG Committee for the 2020-2021 Ses- sion conducted under the watch of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Shugaba.
