Culture for everyone – the cultural programme of Fürth covers the whole spectrum from high-level performances to comedy, from theatre to art house cinema, from museum to gallery.

The Municipal Theatre of Fürth is the first choice for lovers of the performing arts. Presenting high-quali- ty touring companies as well as numerous in-house productions, it attracts attention far beyond the city borders.

The two comedians Volker Heißmann and Martin Rassau and their alter egos Waltraud and Marie- chen are well known in German-speaking countries. In Fürth, they run their own playhouse, the “Comö- die”, staging in-house productions from comedy to boulevard. Guest performances of popular cabaret artists complement the programme.

Give all you‘ve got, either running across Fürth in the City Marathon or cycling along river meadows. Or would you rather play a few holes on the golf course to unwind? Fürth offers countless opportuni- ties for physical activity, ranging from relaxing to action-packed.

If you prefer watching others exert themselves, you can attend a football match at the stadium on Lau- benweg and cheer on the team of SpVgg Greuther Fürth, triple champions of the German football league.

30 31 Give yourself a break.

Created in 1951 for the occasion of a horticultural show, the Stadtpark (municipal park) is cherished by locals and visitors alike. The green heart of the city is both a haven of relaxation and an ideal area for strolls. Do what Fürth people do and enjoy culinary treats on the terrace of the Stadtparkcafé while gazing at the surrounding greenery. A little more action is to be found in the southern part of Fürth where a spacious geometrical park has been built on the grounds of a former barracks complex.

A boule lane, skate boarding facilities, a streetball field, a climbing wall and a large activity playground provide opportunities for sport and fun. Backg- round sounds of the adjacent music school help create a pleasant atmosphere.

On the western periphery of the city centre, you can follow the Uferpromenade (riverside promenade) along the river Rednitz, encountering traces of the old river bath or watching the gardeners in the inter- cultural garden. The café of Kulturort Badstrasse 8 is an agreeable place to see the day out.
