TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2 D Fly to Winnipeg, the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba, centred on the convergence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers. After check- in, head to a replica of Fort Gibraltar for a welcome 3 course dinner. Fort Gibraltar was a North West Company trading post. It played a crucial role in the development of the Red River Colony and in the conflict between the North West Company and the Hudson’s Bay Company. Accommodations: Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg Airport WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3 B, BL, D Depart on a very early morning charter plane arriving in Churchill to start the full day Tundra Buggy adventure! This is a unique vehicle, well heated and with over inflated tires allowing unparallel access onto the tundra to provide the best opportunities to view polar bears and other artic wildlife. A hearty box lunch, prepared locally, will be served onboard. Return to Churchill at dusk for dinner where there will also be time to shop for some Inuit soapstone carvings or other local souvenirs. Fly back to Winnipeg arriving late evening at the hotel.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4 B, D Today explore Winnipeg. Enjoy a guided tour of The Museum of Manitoba, noted for its Urban Gallery, which recreates Winnipeg in the 1920s, and the full-size replica ship Nonsuch, whose voyage in 1668 led to the founding of the Hudson’s Bay Company. Depart the museum to the nearby Forks National Historic site, Winnipeg’s “meeting place”. Lunch is on your own at the Forks Market. Following lunch depart on a Winnipeg coach tour ending at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. The CMHR is the first museum solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration and furture of human rights. A farewell dinner is included this evening.
