MISSION Initiated by the Montgomery County Medical Society, the National Capital Physicians Foundation was formed in 2016 as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 foundation whose mission and goal is to advance the practice of medicine and improve population health in the national capital region through education, research and innovation. PURPOSE The purpose of the National Capital Physicians Foundation is for educational and research activities and such other charitable purposes as the Board may determine from time to time within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT In a 2014 study conducted by Mayo & the AMA, 54.4% of physician respondents indicated they were exhibiting at least one symptom of burnout.
