M received the coveted for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. That year she was listed as one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People and Essence magazine’s 30 Women to Watch.

Ms. Headley continued her musical success on the pop charts with her 2002 debut album on RCA Records, This Is Who I Am . Two songs, “He Is” and “I Wish I Wasn’t,” emerged as Top 5 R&B and Dance chart hits. She earned numerous accolades for This Is Who I Am, including Grammy Award nominations for Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Her long-awaited second solo album, In My Mind , was released in 2006. The opening single became Ms. Headley’s first No. 1 hit, topping the Dance and R&B charts. In 2009 she released Audience of One, which won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.

In 2016 Ms. Headley made a triumphant return to Broadway playing Shug Avery in The Color Purple . She has performed on television on The View , The Ellen DeGeneres Show , The Tonight Show with Jay Leno , and The Late Show with David Letterman . She was the spokesperson for the March of Dimes and led its “I Want My 9 Months” campaign, and also serves on the board of directors for the Catalyst Charter Schools in Chicago.

Ron Colvard

Ron Colvard (musical director, piano) is a seven-time Arizoni Award nominee and winner for Best Musical Direction for Chicago and . He works in multiple genres and mediums as a singer, pianist, arranger, and orchestrator. As a musical director, he has conducted staged events across the U.S., Canada, Asia, and Europe, including the Los Angeles premiere of How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring John Larroquette. Before that he was music director and conductor for Grinch at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego for seven years. Other credits include associate conductor for American Songbook I Meet the Artists

Dancing in the Dark starring Scott Bakula (Old Globe), assistant conductor for the first national tour of the Tony Award–winning musical Hairspray , and national tours of Legally Blonde , Wicked , A Chorus Line , Jersey Boys , Avenue Q, and The King & I starring Stefanie Powers.

Most recently Mr. Colvard was a music producer for the opening of Shanghai Disneyland. He is working on “World of Color—Season of Light,” a nighttime show at Disney California Adventure Park for Tokyo Disneyland. For Disneyland’s diamond celebration, he did vocal arrangements and was a ses - sion producer for .

American Songbook

In 1998, Lincoln Center launched American Songbook, dedicated to the cele - bration of popular American song. Designed to highlight and affirm the cre - ative mastery of America’s songwriters from their emergence at the turn of the 19th century up through the present, American Songbook spans all styles and genres, from the form’s early roots in Tin Pan Alley and Broadway to the eclecticism of today’s singer-songwriters. American Songbook also show - cases the outstanding interpreters of popular song, including established and emerging concert, cabaret, theater, and songwriter performers.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: pre - senter of artistic programming, national leader in arts and education and com - munity relations, and manager of the Lincoln Center campus. A presenter of more than 3,000 free and ticketed events, performances, tours, and educa - tional activities annually, LCPA offers 15 programs, series, and festivals includ - ing American Songbook, Great Performers, Lincoln Center Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Midsummer Night Swing, the Mostly Mozart Festival, and the White Light Festival, as well as the Emmy Award–winning Live From Lincoln Center , which airs nationally on PBS. As manager of the Lincoln Center campus, LCPA provides support and services for the Lincoln Center complex and the 11 resident organizations. Rocky Noel

Lighting designer Rocky Noel returns to Lincoln Center’s American Songbook after recently completing two weeks on Broadway with in My Love Letter to Broadway . Mr. Noel calls New York City home and has worked extensively with artists such as , Barbra Streisand, , , , Elaine Paige, Stephanie J. Block, and , among countless others.

Scott Stauffer

Scott Stauffer has been the sound designer for Lincoln Center’s American Songbook since 1999. His Broadway design credits include A Free Man of Color , The Rivals , Contact (also in London and Tokyo), Marie Christine , Twelfth Night , and Jekyll & Hyde . Off-Broadway Mr. Stauffer has worked on Subverted , Promises, Hereafter , A Minister’s Wife , Bernarda Alba , Third , Belle Epoque , Big Bill , Elegies , Hello Again , The Spitfire Grill , Pageant , and Hedwig and the Angry Inch . His regional credits include productions at the Capitol Repertory Theatre, University of Michigan, Hanger Theatre, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and Alley Theatre. His concert credits include many Lincoln Center galas, as well as the Actors Fund concerts of , Broadway 101 , Hair, and On the Twentieth Century . At Carnegie Hall he has worked with Chita Rivera and . As a sound engineer, Mr. Stauffer has worked on , Juan Darién , Chronicle of a Death Foretold , Carousel , Once on This Island , and the original Little Shop of Horrors.
