The evening features Chenoweth singing renditions of timeless favorites from the Broadway catalog and classic Hollywood films. Corporate Night 2016 is chaired this year by CSOA Trustee Thomas F. O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer at United Airlines. The Corporate Night event chair for the League of the CSOA is Barbara Zutovsky. A Tony® and Emmy® Award-winning artist, Chenoweth’s career effortlessly spans film, television, stage and concert appearances. Notable Broadway credits include originating the role of Glinda in Wicked, which earned her a Tony® Award nomination and a Tony® Award winning portrayal of Sally in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Recent Broadway credits include her widely acclaimed portrayal of glamorous film star, Lily Garland, in Roundabout Theatre Company’s On the Twentieth Century. Screen credits include her Emmy® Award- winning role in the ABC series Pushing Daisies, and the Emmy® nominated role of quirky ex- songstress, April Rhodes on Fox’s hit comedy Glee. Chenoweth’s noteworthy concert appearances include those at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House, Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Sydney Opera House, Washington National Opera’s 50th Anniversary Gala with Placido Domingo and a solo concert at Sam Mendes’ Donmar Warehouse, as part of the “Divas at Donmar” series. The League of the CSOA’s 27th annual Corporate Night brings together business leaders from across the Chicago area to support CSO’s artistic, educational and community programs. Chenoweth earned a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theater and a Master’s degree in Opera Performance from Oklahoma City University. She was also presented with Honorary Doctorate degrees from both the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and her alma mater, Oklahoma City University. An Emmy® Award-winning television actress she has appeared on “West Wing” (where she starred as Annabeth Schott), “Pushing Daisies”, and “Glee.” She has also acted in and provided voiceover work for several feature films. But Chenoweth is perhaps best known by Broadway lovers everywhere her origination of the role of Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked, which earned her a Tony® Award Nomination, and her Tony®-winning performance in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, for which she stole the show and many hearts in the process. Chenoweth has performed solo concerts throughout the world including Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and has collaborated with renowned symphonies, including - The New York Philharmonic, Boston Pops, National Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony. In May 2014, she returned to the famed Carnegie Hall; her first solo-concert at Carnegie Hall was in 2004. On stage, she performed songs from her album, Some Lessons Learned, as well as some of her most memorable songs from Broadway’s Wicked, Promises Promises, and TV’s “Glee.” She performed “An Evening With…” show at London’s highly prestigious concert hall the Royal Albert Hall, in which she received a record-breaking standing ovation. The event was televised live on PBS as part of the network’s Great Performances series. Chenoweth hosted the PBS Arts Fall Festival, which featured classic Broadway hits, music from around the country and theatre performances. The festival included her own concert performance, Kristin Chenoweth: Coming Home, where she performed a career-spanning concert in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The concert was released as a live CD and DVD, and aired as a PBS television special Thanksgiving weekend 2014. Photograph by Michael Larsen The performer says light, even from a smartphone's tiny camera, can bring on a migraine with aura—a temporary visual loss or disturbance—intense nausea, and crippling head pain, as well as room-spinning vertigo. Now 51, Chenoweth has battled these symptoms half her life. Her first attack happened mid-performance with the Virginia Symphony when she was 25. She lost peripheral vision and saw strobing flashes, or what she refers to as "kaleidoscope eyes." The viselike head pain that followed left her "crawling off the stage," she says, only to retreat to her hotel room. There, she vomited repeatedly and experienced extreme light sensitivity and dizziness, even as the worst headache of her life did not abate for days. "I didn't know what hit me," says Chenoweth, who is readying for the release of For the Girls, her seventh album, with an all-star roster of female singers including Ariana Grande, Dolly Parton, and Reba McIntire.

    Welcome It is my pleasure to welcome you to AS YOU LIKE IT, the first production of our 50th anniversary season, and the first show in our Shakespearean act. Shakespeare’s plays have been a cornerstone of our work at CSC, and his writing continues to reflect and refract our triumphs and trials as individuals and collectively as a society. We inevitability turn to Shakespeare to express our despair, bewilderment, and delight. So, what better place to start our anniversary year than with the contemplative search for self and belonging in As You Like It. At the heart of this beautiful play is a speech that so perfectly encapsulates our mortality. All the world’s a stage, and we go through so many changes as we make our exits and our entrances. You will have noticed many changes for CSC. We have a new look, new membership opportunities, and are programming in a new way with more productions and a season that splits into what we have called “acts.” Each act focuses either on a playwright or on an era of work. It seemed appropriate to inaugurate this with a mini-season of Shakespeare, which continues with Fiasco Theater's TWELFTH NIGHT. Then there is Act II: Americans dedicated to work by American playwrights Terrence McNally (FIRE AND AIR) and Tennessee Williams (SUMMER AND SMOKE); very little of our repertoire has focused on classics written by Americans. This act also premieres a new play by Terrence McNally, as I feel that the word classic can also encapsulate the “bigger idea” and need not always be the work of a writer from the past.

    BRENT BARRETT Brent Barrett is no stranger to the stages of Broadway, the West End, concert halls, recording studios or television. He was most recently seen on Broadway reprising his role as Billy Flynn in the Tony Award-winning hit, Chicago - The Musical for which he received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award. Brent received an Olivier Award nomination for his starring role in the London premiere of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Kiss Me, Kate. His acclaimed performance was recorded for broadcast on PBS and is available on DVD. Brent made his debut as the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular in the new $40 million theatre at the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip. He also starred in the City Center Encores! production of The Pajama Game and as King Arthur in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Camelot. Other Broadway roles include Frank Butler in the Broadway revival of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun at the Marquis Theatre opposite Reba McEntire, Charles Castleton in the Alan Jay Lerner musical Dance a Little Closer and Baron Felix Von Gaigern in Grand Hotel. Additional New York performances include Maximilian in the Broadway revival of Candide, and Tommy Albright in New York City Opera's production of Brigadoon. In New Zealand, he appeared as Archibald in that country's production of The Secret Garden. On the road, Brent played the Victor Duchesi role in the pre-Broadway Tour of Busker Alley with Tommy Tune, and he starred opposite Cathy Rigby in the National Tour of Annie Get Your Gun.
