DESCRIPTION OF THE INNOVATION; • Reitan Convenience (RC) has launched the Next Generation Self-Checkout System (SCO) with a flexible and convertible design - a reversible point of sales (POS) solution. • RC has developed and built a technical solution for our existing POS, a swift transition of the convertible cashier-assisted POS to an unmanned SCO and at the same time re-using the existing investment in hardware and software, at minimum cost for our store owners.
• Convenience stores in most cases have a limited store space • Our solution is re-using the traditional POS unit located at the cashier line. • No extra space needed • All POS units are now always open and availed for our costumers, with or without staff. • Possible for the franchisees to use the sales staff in a more efficient way. Increasing the number of customers
• An easy and quick way for unmanned payment for our customers, with a minimum of queue in store.
• Our customers now recognize the Pressbyrån/7-Eleven SCO as an easy and quick way to shop with an accessible and available payment solution.
• During 2018 we have, step by step, added more and more of reversible SCOs. We ended 2018 with a total of 190 units installed. (900 POS in total)
• In 2018 over 640 000 customers have chosen the SCO (reversible POS) in our stores.
• Quick and easy are the keywords. We “peak” in number of customers at 12:00 noon, and next at 14.00-16.00 hours, which in many stores are the hours when there is only one cashier/sales assistant.
• In 2018 we have served 268 750 customers (average receipt of 34 SEK) at lunchtime in the SCO´s, customers who would probably have turned back and left the store due to queue. • Link to movie • https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KCK3RAcKI9iTjDJ2LJYxDWnx6P67ebsZ/view
