60 years award-winning design – this was the motto for the Red Dot year 2015. Founded in 1954 as organisation “Industrieform”, today’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen organised a competition for product design in 1955 for the first time. As it is still customary today, the products, which were awarded by an independent expert jury, were presented in a “Permanent Show of Elegant Industrial Products”. What began 60 years ago has developed to be the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design. This report looks back on an eventful year 2015.
