Twelve lucky South Plainfield morris were greeted unexpectedly by the Mother’s Day “Rose Patrol.” Mohris Florist sponsors the annual contest for elementary school children who answer the question, “W hat makes your mom special?” in a poem or essay. Each of the four elementa ry schools submitted three winners to Mohris Florist. The Rose Patrol surprised the moms last Thursday evening with a bouquet of roses along with their children’s sentiments. The moms were overwhelmed and joyful. Special thanks to Mohris Florist co-owners, Georgeann and Bill Cochrane, who annually donate the flowers and their time.

Specialized Alzheimer’s Nostalgia Park Memory AristaCare at Cedar Oaks'Approach to Memory Care AristaCare a t Cedar Oaks has adopted The Best Friend's Approach to Alzheimer's Care as the Care Unit operating paradigm for Nostalgia Park™. This approach is based on the ingredients that go into any good friendship: mutual respect, affection, understanding and support. The premise is, that as we get to know our residents, understand their current world and their previous lives before the onset o fAlzheimer's Disease, we can interact with them in unique, persona! ways and take caregiving to a whole new level. They no longer are ju st people we are taking care of, but respected friends with an important history. This approach promotes dignity and respect for the individual regardless o f their mental or physical function, and allows the caregiver a unique bonding experience. We help our residents experience meaningful MIRIAM SCHENKER LNHA, CDP and purposeful days, and remain as actively engaged as they are able.
