Department of Physiology Online Student Webinar Competition Breakthrough inventions/ discoveries in medicine – their implications to patient care Summary
An online competition was organised through Google meet by Department of Physiology as a part of webinar series on the topic ‘Breakthrough inventions/ discoveries in medicine – their implications to patient care’ for I MBBS students on 05/06/2020 from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM with an intention to encourage students to learn on historical aspect of medicine. The students worked as a team voluntarily constituted, on the selected Nobel laureate in the field of Physiology and Medicine under the guidance of their respective mentor. The speaker from each team was given 10+5 minutes for the presentation. Around 135 I MBBS students and all the staff members of Physiology department attended the event. The presenter was given a time of 10+5 minutes to present and was assessed by teaching faculty based on the following criteria 1)Introduction (self and group) 2)History behind discovery 3)Body of presentation 4)Implications of discovery 5)Recognition for discovery 6)Summary and thanking 7)Timing. Based on the assessment, 1st prize was awarded to team IIB and 2nd prize to team IIIA. The 3rd prize was shared between team IA and IIA.
