Garland Ceremony The couple put garland (mala) around each other’s neck in the presence of all relatives and friends. It is the symbol of acceptance and pledge to respect each other as a partner. Kanyadan (Giving Away of the Bride) The concept behind Kanyadan is that the bride is a form of the goddess Lamxi and the groom is Lord Narayana. The parents are facilitating their union Pani-Grahan The groom takes the right hand of the bride in his left hand and accepts her as his lawfully wedded wife. Gath Bandhan (Tying of the Nuptial knot) The scarves placed around the bride and groom are tied togethers symbolizing their eternal bond. This signifies their pledge before god to love each other and remain faithful Vivah- The sacred fire ceremony ascertaining that all auspicious undertakings are begun in an atmosphere of purity Jeelakarra (cumin seeds) and Bellam (jaggery): Jeelakarra-Bellamu is a rare tradition especially featuring in the Telugu marriage. The symbolism behind this tradition is that the two different objects coming together and united as one inseparably and forever. Mangalya Dharanam: The Mangalsutra (also called Thaali) is generally a golden chain with alternate black beads and chain. In Hindu tradition, the groom ties the Mangalsutra around the neck of the bride with 3 knots.

Talambraalu: In this event, the bride and the groom shower one another with rice mixed with pearls, saffron and turmeric.
