Their incredibly powerful blend of acoustic and electric, of funk and soul, and of raucous and vulnerable, is the perfect fit for the headling spot to our 20th annual festival–nobody brings the mojo like The Wood Brothers! Saturday: Billy Strings-Billy Strings is a pioneer in modern bluegrass with a bend— He has been invited to play on stage with Del McCoury, David Grisman, Sam Bush, The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, and more. And the industry has taken notice: He just won IBMA 2016 Momentum Awards Instrumentalist of the Year for guitar, banjo and mandolin and was voted #1 in, scene tastemaker, Bluegrass Situation’s Top 16 of ’16. Friday: Dustbowl Revival- The Dustbowl Revival has been making a name for itself with a vibrant mix of vintage Americana sounds. Critics have proclaimed that this eclectic eight-piece “would have sounded utterly at home within the hallowed confines of Preservation Hall in New Orleans’ French Quarter” (Los Angeles Times) and their “upbeat, old-school, All-American sonic safaris exemplify everything shows should be: hot, spontaneous, engaging and, best of all, a pleasure to hear” (L.A. Weekly). Rob Sheffield, in Rolling Stone, hailed them as a great band “whose Americana swing was so fun I went back to see them again the next day.” Saturday-Alash: Whatever you do–don’t miss this! We are thrilled to welcome the outstanding ensemble Alash to our stage in 2018. Hailing from Tuva, a republic of the southern Siberia region, Alash is a group of masters of traditional nstruments and of throat singing. Believing that traditional music must constantly evolve, the musicians subtly infuse their songs with western elements, creating their own unique style that is fresh and new, yet true to their Tuvan musical heritage. Thursday: Lakou Mizik-Lakou Mizik is a multigenerational collective of Haitian musicians formed in the aftermath of the devastating 2010 earthquake. The group includes elder legends and rising young talents, united in a mission to honor the healing spirit of their collective culture and communicate a message of pride, strength and hope to their countrymen and the world. Sunday: Upstate Rubdown Upstate Rubdown is an acoustic septet with three-part female harmony like the Andrews Sisters, but funky! drawing inspiration from every corner (and decade) of America’s musical heritage, the unique blend of cajón, saxaphone, mandolin, upright bass, and flute with three part harmony is one not to be missed! These guys will have you dancing in no time! .
