XIndia is officially a secular country and their citizens enjoy countless festivals. India has three major national holidays and the central government recognizes holidays of all faiths. Diwali: festival of lights Dushera: good over evil Holi: festival of colors, celebrating the onset of spring Vaisakhi: solar New Year Ram Navmi: birth of the lord Rama Karva Chauth: women fast for the whole day for the long life of their husbands.
