CD Reviews Popa Chubby • The Fight is On Last March released an audio compact disc in round 8 with heavy body blows in the Noisemaking Love (CD) entitled “The Fight is On” brought to you by the one and Machine. This brings the typical Popa attack filled with plenty only Popa Chubby. Popa has made several CD’s with a fair of up tempo guitar picking and slide work and his loud gruff amount of genre spread dating back to his first release in 1995 vocals to deliver a good rocking song. My card is now displaying Rock 81, one tune. It opens with the title track followed by Blues 56. Popa puts us on the ropes in round 10 We Got Some Rocking To Do. These two live up to with It’s Over, it has a punchy driving beat and the name of the second song. The Fight Is On ends in a decision however, sounding love song with Popa’s wah wah getting into the act; final scoring on my card is Rock 109, Blues 69. It is Wendell’ s almost comical look at the recent financial meltdown - “I was saving up for a rainy day. Now it’s all gone from my 401K.” The title track, Feed My Soul is a sentimental ballad. It is an obvious tribute from Wendell to his wife about her importance through his treatment. There are fourteen tracks on this CD and there really is not a throw away in the batch.
