“Just get drunk and truck”

“absorbing….informative” Matters 45 “a lovely old time feel … the audience all joined in enthusiastically” Blues in Britain 94

The Jug Orchestra are the authentic stringband sound of the early 20th century, playing a good-time mix of ragtime, , , and jug music. On a plethora of acoustic instrumentation the RJO perform hits from the levees of St Louis, the bars of Memphis, the back hills of Tennessee, the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta and the sporting houses of New Orleans.

Audience participation is always encouraged – the RJO invite the audience to sing along and to join in on the kazoos, jugs and percussion instruments they make available at gigs and can even teach some authentic dance steps.

The RJO has been playing at events, parties, blues, folk and acoustic clubs, pubs and bars around Bristol, the Welsh Borders, South Wales, the Midlands and their home patch of Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean since 1999.
