Friends of the Augusta Sports Council, The mission of the Augusta Sports Council (ASC) is to enrich the quality of life and economic well-being for the Augusta metropolitan area by supporting and attracting sporting activities. We accomplish this mission by attracting and negotiating with event owners to either bring their events to our area or by hosting other sporting events across our region. Our contribution in 2019 totaled $20,019,072.86 in estimated economic impact for sporting events. Needless to say, sports tourism and the ASC are a vital part of our community and business economics. Our most recognizable contributing events in 2019 included: Augusta University Half Marathon, 10K & 5K, USA Cycling Collegiate National Championship, EYBL Nike Peach Jam Basketball, 40th Annual Augusta Cutting Horse Futurity, and IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta. Additionally, we are proud to recognize our local athletes with two annual awards ceremonies, the All-CSRA Football Banquet in January and the GAMES Scholarship Program in the spring.Nationally, we are recognized as we present the Award to the top collegiate in the country at the Home Depot Awards Show on ESPN each December. The success of these events and programs are only possible through your support, our business partners, a volunteer base of over 2,000 selfless individuals and a dedicated staff and board of directors. As we plan for sporting events in the coming years, we are equally excited about the growth and excitement currently taking place in Augusta’s River Region. We look forward to continuing our service to the Augusta River Region, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for our home town! Thank you all again for your support of the Augusta Sports Council!
