    Contact: Adina Ellis, NFL, 212.450.2435 or [email protected] NFL CHARITIES SUPPORTS PLAYER FOUNDATIONS WITH MORE THAN $1 MILLION IN GRANTS New York (February 20, 2007)—NFL Charities, the charitable arm of the National Football League, awarded more than $1 million in grants to support the charitable and community service activities and foundations of both former and current NFL players, it was announced today. A total of 64 grants were awarded this year as part of the annual NFL Player Foundation Grants Program. Grants range from $1,000 to $25,000 and often times are matches to player donations. Former and current player grant recipients (listed below) will use the funds to maintain and enhance the scope of their foundations that work to better the lives of people in communities nationwide. In order to be considered for a grant, the recipient organization must meet application criteria including be defined as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) or Section 509 of the IRS Code, be located or operating within the area of the player’s current or former NFL team or in his hometown, be established by the player, or the former player must be a full-time, salaried employee of a 501(c)(3) organization. 2006 Player Foundation Grants Program recipients include Indianapolis Colts quarterback, PEYTON MANNING, Chicago Bears quarterback BRIAN GRIESE, and Baltimore Ravens guard EDWIN MULITALO.     July 13, 2017 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Steve Richardson [email protected] 214-870-6516 2017 BRONKO NAGURSKI TROPHY WATCH LIST UNVEILED DALLAS (FWAA) — The 2017 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List boasts 103 defensive standouts from all 10 Division I FBS conferences, including four returning players from last season’s Football Writers Association of America All-America team. Christian Wilkins, a defensive tackle for defending national champion Clemson, and Florida State defensive back Tavarus McFadden are the only 2016 FWAA first-teamers on the list. Two other 2016 second-teamers – Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver and Virginia linebacker Micah Kiser – are included along with NIU defensive back Shawun Lurry, a 2015 First-Team FWAA All-America player. The Atlantic Coast Conference led all conferences with 20 players on the watch list, followed by the Big Ten (16), SEC (14), Pac-12 (13), Big 12 (11), American Athletic (10), Sun Belt (6), Mountain West (5), Independents (3), Mid-American (3) and Conference USA (2). The list includes 30 defensive backs, 29 linebackers, 25 defensive ends and 19 defensive tackles, all vying for the award representing college football’s best defensive player. Players may be added or removed from the watch list during the course of the season. As in previous seasons, the FWAA will announce a National Defensive Player of the Week each Tuesday throughout the season. If not already on the watch list, each week’s honored player will be added at that time. The 2015 Doak Walker Award recipient will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, December 10, on ESPN. The Award is named after three-time SMU All-America running back and 1948 Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker. Walker, who also punted, returned kicks and kicked extra points, led the Mustangs to two Southwest Conference Championships. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions and led the league in scoring his rookie year. During his six years with the Lions, he led the team to two NFL championships and was chosen All-Pro four times. Walker is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. The 2015 recipient will be the 26th in the history of the award.

The Walter Camp Coach of the Year is selected by the nation’s 125 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. Cutcliffe is the first Duke coach to receive the award, and the first honoree from the ACC since 2001 (Ralph Friedgen, Maryland). Under Cutcliffe’s direction, the 20th-ranked Blue Devils have set a school record with 10 victories and earned their first-ever berth in the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship Game. Duke clinched the Coastal Division title and championship game berth with a 27-25 victory over in-state rival North Carolina on November 30. Duke (10-2, 6-2 in the Coastal Division) will face top-ranked Florida State (12-0) on Saturday, December 7 in Charlotte, N.C. The Blue Devils enter the game with an eight-game winning streak – the program’s longest since 1941. In addition, the Blue Devils cracked the BCS standings for the first time this season, and were a perfect 4-0 in the month of November (after going 1-19 in the month from 2008 to 2012). Cutcliffe was hired as Duke’s 21st coach on December 15, 2007. Last season, he led the high- scoring Blue Devils to a school record 410 points (31.5 points per game) and a berth in the Belk Bowl – the program’s first bowl appearance since 1994.
