Song Sheets for Online Services - Church License #122509 Song Sheets for Online Services - Church License #122509 Before The Throne of God Above Before the throne of God above I have a strong and perfect plea A great High Priest whose name is love Who ever lives and pleads for me My name is graven on His hands My name is written on His heart I know that while in heav'n He stands No tongue can bid me thence depart No tongue can bid me thence depart When Satan tempts me to despair And tells me of the guilt within Upward I look and see Him there Who made an end of all my sin Because the sinless Savior died My sinful soul is counted free For God the Just is satisfied To look on Him and pardon me To look on Him and pardon me Behold Him there, the risen Lamb My perfect, spotless Righteousness The great unchangeable I AM The King of glory and of grace One with Himself, I cannot die My soul is purchased by His blood My life is hid with Christ on high With Christ my Savior and my God One with Himself, I cannot die My soul is purchased by His blood My life is hid with Christ on high 1 With Christ my Savior and my God With Christ my Savior and my God Written by Charitie Bancroft and Vikki Cook CCLI# 2306412 Be Thou My Vision Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art. Thou my best thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word; I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I Thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one. Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, Thou mine inheritance, now and always: Thou and Thou only, first in my heart, High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art. High King of heaven, my victory won, May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all. Public Domain 2 Christ Our Hope In Life and Death What is our hope in life and death? Christ alone, Christ alone. What is our only confidence? That our souls to Him belong. Who holds our days within His hand? What comes, apart from His command? And what will keep us to the end? The love of Christ, in which we stand. CHORUS: O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal; O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death. What truth can calm the troubled soul? God is good, God is good. Where is His grace and goodness known? In our great Redeemer’s blood. Who holds our faith when fears arise? Who stands above the stormy trial? Who sends the waves that bring us nigh Unto the shore, the rock of Christ? Unto the grave, what shall we sing? “Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!” And what reward will heaven bring? Everlasting life with Him. There we will rise to meet the Lord, Then sin and death will be destroyed, 3 And we will feast in endless joy, When Christ is ours forevermore. Words and Music by Keith Getty, Matt Boswell, Jordan Kauflin, Matt Merker, Matt Papa CCLI# 7147502 Come Thou Fount Come thou fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing thy grace Streams of mercy never ceasing Call for songs of loudest praise Teach me some melodious sonnet Sung by flaming tongues above Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it Mount of thy redeeming love Jesus sought me when a stranger Wandering from the fold of God He, to rescue me from danger Interposed his precious blood. How his kindness yet pursues me Mortal tongue can never tell Clothed in flesh till death shall loose me I cannot proclaim it well O to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to be Let thy goodness, like a fetter Bind my wandering heart to thee Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it Prone to leave the God I love Here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for thy courts above 4 O that day when free from sinning I shall see that lovely face Clothed then in my blood washed linen How I'll sing thy sovereign grace Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, Take my ransomed soul away; Send thine angels now to carry Me to realms of endless day. Public Domain For the Cause For the cause of Christ the King We give our lives an offering Till all the earth resounds with ceaseless praise to the Son For the cause of Christ we go With joy to reap with faith to sow As many see and many put their trust in the Son CHORUS: Christ we proclaim The Name above every name For all creation every nation God's salvation through the Son For the King once lifted high To cries of rage of crucify Endured the cross as every sin was laid on the Son To the King who conquered death To free the poor and the oppressed For lasting peace for life and liberty in the Son 5 Let it be my life’s refrain To live is Christ to die is gain Deny myself take up my cross and follow the Son Let it be my life’s refrain To live is Christ to die is gain Deny myself take up my cross and follow the Son Written by Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, Stuart Townend CCLI# 7063750 He Will Hold Me Fast When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast; When the tempter would prevail, He will hold me fast. I could never keep my hold Through life’s fearful path; For my love is often cold; He must hold me fast. REFRAIN: He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast; For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast. Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast; Precious in His holy sight, He will hold me fast. He’ll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last; 6 Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast. For my life He bled and died, Christ will hold me fast; Justice has been satisfied; He will hold me fast. Raised with Him to endless life, He will hold me fast ‘Till our faith is turned to sight When He comes at last! Songwriter(s): Ada Habershon, Matthew Merker CCLI: #7016161 His Mercy Is More What love could remember no wrongs we have done Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore Our sins they are many, His mercy is more CHORUS: Praise the Lord His mercy is more Stronger than darkness, new every morn Our sins they are many, His mercy is more What patience would wait as we constantly roam What Father, so tender, is calling us home He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor Our sins they are many, His mercy is more What riches of kindness he lavished on us His blood was the payment, His life was the cost 7 We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford Our sins they are many, His mercy is more Written by Matt Papa, Matt Boswell CCLI #7065053 His Robes For Mine His robes for mine: O wonderful exchange! Clothed in my sin, Christ suffered ‘neath God’s rage. Draped in His righteousness, I’m justified. In Christ I live, for in my place He died. Chorus: I cling to Christ, and marvel at the cost: Jesus forsaken, God estranged from God. Bought by such love, my life is not my own. My praise-my all-shall be for Christ alone. His robes for mine: what cause have I for dread? God’s daunting Law Christ mastered in my stead. Faultless I stand with righteous works not mine, Saved by my Lord’s vicarious death and life. His robes for mine: God’s justice is appeased. Jesus is crushed, and thus the Father’s pleased. Christ drank God’s wrath on sin, then cried “‘Tis done!” Sin’s wage is paid; propitiation won. His robes for mine: such anguish none can know. Christ, God’s beloved, condemned as though His foe. He, as though I, accursed and left alone; I, as though He, embraced and welcomed home! Written by Greg Habegger and Chis Anderson CCLI#252170 8 Holy Holy Holy Holy, holy, holy Lord, God Almighty Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee Holy, holy, holy Merciful and mighty God in three persons blessed Trinity Holy, holy, holy though the darkness hide Thee Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee Perfect in power, in love, and purity Holy, holy, holy Lord, God Almighty All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea Holy, holy, holy merciful and mighty God in three persons blessed Trinity Public Domain How Deep the Father's Love for Us How deep the Father's love for us How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory Behold the Man upon the cross My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed to hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers 9 It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom Written by Stuart Townend CCLI# 1558110 How Firm A Foundation How firm a foundation you saints of the LORD Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! What more can He say than to you He has said, To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled? “Fear not, I am with you, O be not dismayed, For I am your God and will still give you aid; I’ll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.” “When through the deep waters I call you to go, The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow; For I will be with you, your troubles to bless, And sanctify to you, your deepest distress.” 10 “When through fiery trials your pathways shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be your supply; The flame shall not hurt your; I only design Your dross to consume, and your gold to refine.” “The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose, I will not, I will not desert to its foes; That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.

I believe they contain no blunders, and they are as good as I can make them ; but my aim is practical, namely, to teach those who know little about verses how they may learn more. In games we often learn more from those who are just good enough to beat us, than we could learn from professional players ; and so I trust that if these verses are only a little better than the learner can make, he will learn from them none the less. What is here printed is the substance of composition lectures which I have been in the habit of giving for the last ten or twelve years.

  • Message in the Music 5/6 Trapped by the Flames and Smoke in His Second-Story Bedroom
    b. Meet This Message i. “All My Hope” is a prodigal story reminding us that we all stray away from God and He still welcomes us back with open arms when we come back to Him! ii. Think about “hope” for a moment. 1. When I say hope, are you thinking “I hope everything thing is okay”? “Hope” = wishful thinking/Disney dreaming? 2. No! Hope = faith / belief / confidence! (pic of burning house on screen) It’s like that story of a family was awakened by their smoke detector in the middle of the night to discover that their house was on fire. The father ran into the upstairs bedroom of his children and carried his eighteen-month-old baby in his arms while dragging his four-year-old son by the hand. They were halfway down the stairs when the little boy remembered that he had left his teddy bear in the bedroom, so he broke free from his father’s hand and ran back to the bedroom to retrieve it. In the furor and confusion, the father didn’t notice that his son wasn’t with him until he got outside. By now the little boy was Message in the Music 5/6 trapped by the flames and smoke in his second-story bedroom. Smoke swirled First Baptist Student Ministry - Wednesday, August 1, 2018 around him and he coughed and cried out from the upstairs window, “Daddy, Daddy! Help me!” Intro Video = “Message In The Music 2018 Intro” (0:12) His father yelled from below, “Jump out of the window, Andy! I’ll catch you!” In the darkness and smoke, the little boy yelled back, “But Daddy! I can’t see you!” Tonight we will conclude this summer’s Message In The Music series in a unique Daddy shouted back, “That’s okay, son.

  • Central Songbook
1 Central Songbook July 29, 2017 This file contains all of the lyrics to all of the songs currently sung regularly in the morning services at Central Presbyterian Church. Many other songs for worship (both new and old) are also included. The hyperlinks lead to audio files suitable for learning the tune of each song. Those marked “tune only” link to an instrumental accompaniment (usually in the style of a four-part arrangement for piano or organ). Other links connect to recordings of vocalists singing the song. The specific musical arrangements and the manner of performance in these recordings (e.g., tempo) do not necessarily indicate the arrangements or manner in which a song would be sung at Central Presbyterian Church. The links are provided for purposes of teaching and learning the basic melody of the song. The texts for many older hymns exist in multiple different versions because hymnal editors have altered the texts. In the Central Songbook, the variations for hymns with differing texts have been compared with one another. Modern language updates have been chosen wherever these changes do not eliminate or distort important biblical allusions, theological concepts, or literary features of the text too greatly. Other selection criteria include biblical-theological depth and accuracy and ease of use in congregational singing. (If you want to sing another variant of the text included in the Central Songbook, download the Microsoft Word document form of this file and edit the file for your own use accordingly.) This songbook will grow and develop as new songs are added to and/or removed from Central’s repertoire.

  • 'It's All About Jesus'
EQ 81.3 (2009), 254–268 ‘It’s all about Jesus’: a critical analysis of the ways in which the songs of four contemporary worship Christian songwriters can lead to an impoverished christology Andrew Goodliff Andy Goodliff is training for Baptist ministry and completing an MTh at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford KEY WORDS: christology, worship, songs, Jesus, trinity, priestly office, prophetic office The last fifteen years have seen the rise of a new group of young prolific Chris- tian songwriters whose worship songs have found a global audience, particu- larly in the UK where they all live.1 Three of the songwriters – Matt Redman, Tim Hughes and Martyn Layzell, have close links with the Christian youth organisa- tion Soul Survivor and its erstwhile parent New Wine; while one – Paul Oakley, has links with New Frontiers. Soul Survivor, New Wine and New Frontiers are all expressions of charismatic Christianity. New Wine and Soul Survivor grew out of the relationship between David Pytches (then minister at St. Andrew’s Chorley- wood) and John Wimber, the then leader and founder of Vineyard.2 The values of Vineyard, its emphasis on worship and signs and wonders are evident in both New Wine and Soul Survivor.3 New Frontiers emerged out of the house-church movement of the 1970s under the leadership of Terry Virgo.4 It was also influ- enced by John Wimber and Vineyard, and is shaped by a Calvinistic theology.5 1 This article is only able to look at four Christian songwriters. The four in this study were chosen because of their connection to worship aimed at young people (that is, those who are predominantly in their teens and twenties), which they pioneered from the mid-1990s onwards.
