EXPLANATORY NOTE the Alphabetical Index Appears in the Same Form and Is Based on the Same Principles As Those Applied in Cumulat EXPLANATORY NOTE (See also GENERAL INTRODUCTION) The Alphabetical Index appears in the same form and is based on the same principles as those applied in Cumulative Indexes Nos. 1-12. The Index consists of two types of main headings arranged in one alphabet: (1) names of countries and organizations parties to instruments, and (2) subjects of the instruments. Under the main country heading (or organization) the instruments are listed in alphabetical order by the second signatory party followed by the short title. The multilateral instruments in which a particular country par­ ticipated are listed under this heading arranged alphabetically by short title. Under each subject heading the instruments are listed alphabetically by country or organization and then by short title. A country or organization is usually listed only once, either as the first or as the second signatory party, in alphabetical order. The multilateral instruments are listed alphabetically by short title under this heading.     History of the USS SCHENECTADY (LST 1185) Prepared by Robert R. Scofield, former CIC officer I have prepared this history of the USS SCHENECTADY (LST 1185) primarily from Command Histories of the SCHENECTADY for each year that it was in commission. Each Naval command is required to submit annually a “history” of the prior year’s activity to the Naval Historical Center located at the Washington Navy Yard. These Command Histories are available for review by the general public. However, this history has been supplemented by information gathered from the internet, from discussions with former SCHENECTADY crewmembers and from my personal files and recollections of the time I was on the ship. I intend for this to be a “living” history, in that it can be enhanced by new information. If anyone wants to add information, please e-mail me at [email protected] or call at 302-654-9112. I joined the SCHENECTADY on July 31, 1970 as an Ensign (fresh out of Officer Candidate School) and was assigned duties as Combat Information Center (CIC) officer with Division Officer responsibility for OI Division (ship’s office and medical department personnel, the ship’s postal clerk, the quartermasters and the radarmen (rate name later changed to Operations Specialist)). I was detached from the ship on August 18, 1972. I have organized this history by “captaincy” of each commanding officer. However, dates are also important mileposts, so I have used red, bold font for the first entry in each calendar year to help users who want to search the history by date rather than by commanding officer.

BULLERWELL Introduction What you hold is perhaps the most comprehensive listing of the NCC- and NX- Federation Starfleet registration numbers ever created. Unfortunately, as comprehensive as it is, it is also confusing, error filled and riddled with mysteries. These numbers are from the entirety of fandom and canon. If you’re looking for a work of completely canon numbers and nothing else, this is not the document for you. Because the majority of these numbers come from fandom, there are a lot of discrepancies, and a lot of replication. There are numerous considerations I needed to make in compiling the list. For instance, I worked under the assumption that a ship with a lettered suffix (for example NCC-1234-C) is carrying a registry ‘tradition’, like the Enterprise. Therefore, if fandom listed a NCC-XXX-A U.S.S. No Name, I assumed the was a NCC-XXX (no suffix) No Name as well. While this is indeed very unlikely, I included them for the sake of completeness, as the original originator likely intended. Also, spellings in this document are intentional. If a ships name was Merrimac, I did not change it to Merrimack, or vice-versa. Again, it is assumed that the originator of the ship’s name/number intended their spelling to be correct. Some vessels had the same names and numbers, but were listed under two different class names. An example of this would be the Orka-class and the Clarke-class. Both classes had the same ships and numbers.
