Kill Uncle was recorded when Morrissey was in a transitional phase. He had parted ways with producer Stephen Street but had not yet started working with his future long-term team of guitarists Alain Whyte and Boz Boorer. An utterly unpredictable and totally captivating story -- I read it in one evening. It's kind of a cult classic -- first published Lets Kill Uncle and it's been out of print for while. I learned about it from an article in the January Believer. For now, go get a copy from your library if you can. You Lets Kill Uncle be sorry. Logging this as 4 stars but really tempted to give it 4. Delightful and a just a bit odd. This mordant bit of humorous crime fiction involving neglected children, Canadian Mounties, dastardly uncles, and cynical, sly old cougars is a fast- paced, beautifully characterized treat.
