February 26, 2021 Amazon Warehouse Workers In
February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. In solidarity and support, Megan Abbott (DARE ME) Chris Abbott (LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE; CAGNEY AND LACEY; MAGNUM, PI; HIGH SIERRA SEARCH AND RESCUE; DR. Recommended Talking Points
RECOMMENDED TALKING POINTS “What is SHREK THE MUSICAL?” The official title of the show is SHREK THE MUSICAL. SHREK THE MUSICAL is an entirely new musical based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek!, as well as the Oscar® winning DreamWorks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the Shrek movie series. SHREK THE MUSICAL looks backwards at all the fairy tale traditions we grew up on: a hero (a big, green, ill-tempered ogre), a beautiful princess (who is not all she appears to be), and a dastardly villain (with some obvious shortcomings) and takes great fun turning all their storytelling conventions upside-down and inside-out (and on their ear). “How did the musical come about?” Sam Mendes, the British director and producer, was a big fan of the first film, and he suggested the idea of creating a musical to DreamWorks’ Jeffrey Katzenberg, around the time the second film was in production. Now, the musical is being produced by DreamWorks Theatricals (Bill Damaschke, President) and Neal Street Productions, Ltd (principals Sam Mendes and Caro Newling). “How does the new musical fit into the Shrek pantheon?” The story of the musical follows the events and characters of the first Shrek feature film, which won the first-ever Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature. In SHREK THE MUSICAL, the creative team will go deeper into the background and story of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey and the lovable collection of everyone’s favorite Fairy-Tale characters. SHREK THE MUSICAL will feature a completely original score by one the theatre’s most eclectic composers, Jeanine Tesori, working in theatre today. -

2007 Annual Report
2007 Annual Report As a celebration of the creative spirit that drives everything we do at DreamWorks Animation, we held an artwork contest in 2007 in which we invited all employees to submit a design to be featured in the Annual Report. Every submission celebrated the unique and fulfilling process of working on an animated film at the Company. Rhion Magee, Consumer Products, created the winning submission. Dear Fellow Shareholders, I am pleased to report that 2007 was our most successful year since we took DreamWorks Animation public in 2004, thanks in large part to the blockbuster success of Shrek the Third and the Shrek franchise as a whole. In addition to boasting the best domestic opening in the history of animated film, Shrek the Third became the second highest grossing film of 2007 in the U.S. and the fourth best performing animated movie of all time. Even in a challenging home video market, Shrek the Third has risen above the competition and performed well. In 2007, we advanced our mission to successfully expand the Shrek brand with Shrek the Halls, our first made-for-television special. Over 21 million people throughout the U.S. watched the program this past holiday season on ABC. Additionally, Shrek made his first appearance at the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as the official 2007 Ambassador for the event. In December, we will take our brand expansion one step further by bringing Shrek the Musical to the Broadway Theatre in New York City. We are very excited about this tremendous opportunity to further extend one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood history. -
The Bone Collector (1999) Directed by Phillip Noyce
Lincoln, Lincoln, I’ve Been Thinkin’ By Fearless Young Orphan The Bone Collector (1999) Directed by Phillip Noyce A casual viewing of The Bone Collector will probably provide an entertaining movie experience. There are big stars (Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifah, Ed O’Neill), there is a sexy plot (serial killer investigations are always sexy plots) and there is an interesting twist on the mix. Washington plays Lincoln Rhyme, an expert forensic detective, textbook author, and decorated cop, who is now paralyzed from the neck down and must do all his detective work from a hospital bed surrounded by high-tech equipment. There is something of Rear Window in this, and something of Silence of the Lambs, in the way he takes a young cop under his wing and grooms her for forensics. Really, what could I have to complain about? Oh, lots. Lots and lots. I’ve seen it twice now. I hated it the first time I saw it. On the second viewing, for purposes of creating a Chunk, I found myself more disappointed in its missed potential than actively hating what it put on screen. Still, that’s enough to Chunk about. Let’s begin! 1. The Serial Killer. I realize I’m coming at this from the back end. Of course we don’t know until the last ten minutes who the killer is and why he’s killing. Naturally, because this is a movie, he is someone we’ve already come to know in the movie’s context. That way, it’s a shocking twist! Yeah, he’s been skulking around Lincoln’s apartment the entire time. -
