Dut\er said,"\ fee\ there have been a few more i e year in com n j uri s this parison to last year." But because_ not all students fill out accident reports from the intramural office, they have no written evidence that the accidents have happened. Students--Please Note ! The University Board , the UB Concert Committee and the EIU Activities Staff are currently TWO ·days away from the 1 9 7 9 Homecoming Concert with Jay Ferguson and Skater. Great concern is being expressed by the above · groups due to the poor ticket sales for the concert. Currently, just over 600 tickets have been purchased, with 2,200 ticket sales needed to pay for the · concert. The· major concern is that student fee money is not used in the financing of the· Major Concert Ser1es at EIU and each show is, hopefully , a break-evn or better endeavor.. . The Unive, rsity Board's Concert Committee is facing a potential loss of $10,000 on the Homecoming show . This loss would make future concerts in Lantz Building extremely difficult to gamble on. Many factors weigh in the situation of low ticket sales: -Lack of money, student apathy, non-recognition of the headline act or various personal reasons. . As explained in Volume 4, No. 2 of the un·iversity Board's publication, the "UB Billboard," Concerts at EIU are not easy to come by. The failure of the promoted concert "South Side Johnny" has turned the phones silent from the area promoters and only the booking agents and management companies are interested in EIU as a concert area. Of course, the University Board must assume 100% of the cost of the concerts through those two sources.

The unpleasant fact is that if the University Board Concert Com- · mittee incurs the $1 0,000 loss, there is every possibility there will not be other major groups appearing at EIU in the near future . The exception being the previously scheduled December 6 performance of Harry Chapin. Jay Ferguson is not an unknown to the Rock 'n Roll world. His establishment of the super group "Spirit" in the late Sixties established him in the forefront of the rock scene. Songs such as "I've Got a Line On You," "Mr. Skin" and "Nature's Way" are just · three of the group's hits. · Jay then formed Jo Jo Gunne and "Run, Run, Run" better known as "Ride" was the groups first hit. Jay Ferg uson is now out in the forefront of the Rock and Roll business with three solo albums and two hit singles - "Thunder Island" and "Shakedown Cruise." In the "spirit" of Homecoming and for the future of the major concert program at EIU, attend what will be an incredible visual and audio performance of the Jay Ferguson Band.
