Lundberg. It is fitting that this volume is published under the auspices of the Behavioral Research Council. George Lundberg, as its first President, and one of its founding members, was dedicated to the goals of the Behavioral Research Council: namely, the encouragement and development of behavioral science research and its application to the problems of men in society. He has been a constant inspiration to behavioral research not only in sociology, where he was considered to be a classic figure and a major influence but in the behavioral sciences in general. Part One of this volume includes papers on George Lundberg and his scientific work, particularly in the field of sociology. Orig inally read at a special conference of the Pacific Sociological Association (March 30-April 1, 1967), the papers are here pub lished by permission of the Society. Part Two contains papers not directly on George Lundberg but on themes and topics close to his interest. They are written by members of the Behavioral Research Council. We hope that this volume is a token, however small, of the pro found contribution that George Lundberg has made to the de velopment of the behavioral sciences. This study focuses on the role and contribution of monuments to educating about Holocaust commemoration in Israel. Holocaust monuments are located throughout Israel, from north to south, and over the years memorial centers have been added, which contain additional monuments commemorating the story of the specific place and/or personal stories. Many of the latter have original displays from the period of the Holocaust and, according to definitions that will be presented below, these too can be defined as “monuments” and their place as a commemorative site. Commemoration of the Holocaust is an important value in the education of the young generation, as a lesson and as a call to always remember that which happened. The educational system has a very significant role in providing instruction on the memory of the Holocaust and it must teach this complex topic using interesting visual means such as monuments, which have a meaningful role in the story of the Holocaust, similar to journals, letters, films, and drawings. -

Yet many notable female sociologists are missing from the public history of American sociology, both print and digital. The rise of crowd- sourced digital sources, particularly the largest and most influential, Wikipedia, seems to promise a new and more welcoming approach. -

(Bernal 1964) 4.1 Welcoming the SCI At first, the SCI did not seem to have much impact on science. Its existence did not change scientists’ information seeking behaviour. As has already been said in chapter 2, most of them seemed indifferent and the SCI failed to transform the system of scientific publication (chapter 3). -

The School’s thought developed from Small’s close association with William James, John Dewey, George Herbert Mead and Charles Cooley; all of whom emphasised the individual and the importance of that individual’s empirical perception or experience, and subscribed to a Darwinian view of evolution and natural history. The School’s early links with anthropology (exemplified chiefly by the work of William Isaac Thomas) and economics, would contribute to the development of an easily recognisable methodology. This was field-based statistical research, for the most part carried out within the urban locality of Chicago, which viewed criminality – especially juvenile delinquency – as the product of purely sociological factors. The University of Chicago Press’s Sociological Series (characterised by its distinctively modern and attractive book design, which influenced the nearby Free Press of Glencoe, Illinois) was responsible for distributing much of the School’s core work, beginning with Nels Anderson’s The Hobo in 1923. -
