achieving together.” Tel: 01837 83354 www...sch.uk [email protected]

A note from the Head Dear Parents and Carers, What a wonderful start to the autumn term. It has been so lovely to see all the children back this week. They have settled effortlessly into the new routines; it is like they have never been away. We have been so impressed with how the children, especially our younger ones have left parents at the door and skipped happily in to their new classes. The children have all worked so hard this week and we are so proud of what they have achieved. Please try not to worry if your child is a little bit upset when they leave you, they usually settle very quickly once inside the pod or their classroom. It has been a very tiring week for our younger children, I think the weekend is needed for them. It is lovely to have everyone back in school. Key stage 2 children (classes 3-6) have enjoyed their PE sessions with Max and Marc, our Primary Sports Coaches, they have been impressed with the children’s positive attitudes and their behaviour. Where possible children will have their PE sessions outside. The hall is available if the weather is too wet. We have had 22 new children starting at Winkleigh this week, which is wonderful, the children have made them feel so welcome and really looked after them. It is lovely to see our numbers growing across the pre-school and school. I have been particularly touched to see some of our bus children looking after their siblings who have not been on the school bus before. The care and love they have shown towards them is wonderful to see. They are lucky to have such caring older brothers and sisters. Please could I ask that children do not run about on the grass bank behind the cars when waiting for siblings. Children should stand with their adult until they are ready to leave. Thank you for your cooperation when dropping off and collecting children. We have made a few tweaks throughout the week, but all seems to be working well. We now have a yellow line painted in the D and would ask parents to wait behind this to allow the buses to reverse in whilst keeping everyone safe. The service that provides free fruit/veg snack for children in Key stage 1 (Owls to class 2) has now resumed so we are able to provide a snack for those children. Children in Key stage 2 are welcome to bring in a piece of fresh fruit for their snack. We hope to be able to offer milk again after half term. If your child has a birthday they can still come in to school in their ‘home clothes’. They can bring in treats for their class if they would like to, but we ask that they are individually wrapped and not home-made during this time. Have a restful weekend and we look forward to another exciting week.
