The women have received the news that there had been a cave -in at the site. En route to the excavation site, Raquel thinks about her investigation for don Fernan do. She traveled to Sevilla and Madrid to look for Sra. Teresa Suárez, who wrote to don Fernando, telling him that he had a son from his first marriage to Rosario, a Spanish woman whom he thought had died in the Spanish Civil War. Sra. Suárez explained tha t Rosario and her son Ángel had moved to a ranch near Buenos Aires. There Raquel found Rosario's other son, Arturo, who informed her of the death of his mother and of Ángel's departure from Buenos Aires. They began a search and ended up falling in love. A sailor in Buenos Aires gave them Ángel's address in San Juan and Raquel continued her search. She learned there that Ángel had died and that he had two children, Ángela and Roberto. Ángela is going to Mexico to meet her grandfather and her uncle Arturo. On the way to the site Ángela admits that she has always been a bit envious of her brother. At the hospital she learns that Roberto is still trapped. Arturo arrives at a hotel in Mexico, knowing nothing of the cave -in nor of Raquel's whereabouts. He leave s message at Pedro's house.

    ANGUAGE AB Guide West Los Angeles College Foreign Language Lab Non-Attendance Policy Failure to follow the clock-in and clock-out procedures as indicated in this Lab Policy will result in the following penalties: First Strike Penalty I understand that: ___ I was not present when attendance was taken in the lab or ___ I was present, but not actively engaged in using the materials assigned to me. The lab attendance report for the day will show that I was clocked in at the time attendance was taken and later returned to the lab and clocked out to receive credit for the time that I was not in the lab. I will be informed by message on the login screen that I have been warned of the breach of Lab procedures and a deduction for hours accrued for that day will be subtracted from my total lab time. Second Strike Penalty I understand that my password was disabled as of this date: , and that 6 (six) hours deducted from my total Language Lab hours as a second strike penalty because I failed to follow clock-in and clock-out procedures as indicated in the GUIDE TO THE LANGUAGE LAB, a second occurrence. (Student was clocked-in but was not present in the lab. Student returned to lab to clock-out and receive credit.) My language instructor may request a copy of this form that I must sign to re-enable my password. I further acknowledge that I must make-up the above hours to achieve the required lab hours by the last day of lab to receive credit for the Foreign Language Lab.

General description In 1992, Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish debuted as a very popular language immersion series on PBS and video. It followed the path through Spain and Latin America of Raquel Rodríguez, a Los Angeles lawyer hired by Mexican industrialist don Fernando Castillo Saavedra, to investigate claims about his first wife, thought to have been killed in the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930's. The mystery was solved, though the aging don Fernando died at the end of the telenovela, which consisted of 52 half- hour episodes. Now, five years later, Fernando's brother Pedro has just died, and there is another mystery to solve concerning La Gavia, the family estate. Raquel Rodriguez is, again, involved, assisting a young lawyer from Mexico City, Lucía Hinojosa. Since much of what Raquel discovered in the earlier mystery is relevant to the new puzzle, Raquel gets to summarize her previous travels and experiences while filling Lucía in on the history.
