The outgoing Committee of Dakshin Kalikata Sansad (DKS) welcomes you to the 88'h Annual General Meeting and furnishes its Annual Repoft along with the audited Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2020. Tennis ITF After successfully organising ITF Juniors for 27 years, this was the 28'h year of ITF JUNIORS at Kolkata. This year, the Grade 2 tourney was shifted to Tennis Association, Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, Salt Lake, Kolkata (BTA) to facilitate the beginning of our much-awaited face-lifting construction work at DKS. The tournament took place in the week of 20'n January 2020. Already adjudged as one of the best organised ITF Juniors tournament of the country this year the tournament received entries from several foreign countries notably USA, China, Thailand, Russia, Korea, Belgium, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Canada, Australia, Zimbabwe, Israel, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Italy, Great Britain, Serbia, France as also from the host country . In an effort to provide opportunities to local talents, Wild Card entries to several aspiring Indian tennis talents were offered this year too. Among others, Arunava Majumder; a DKS coaching trainee got the chance to rub shoulders with the eighth seeded Japanese, Yamato Sueoka in the first round of the Championship. The Championship was organised with the enhanced efficiency and enthusiasm by our team of club members strengthened by active participation from all coaching and non-coaching staff of BTA. We would like to put on record our sincere gratitude and appreciation to BTA and its team for helping us successfully organise the tournament. Pengyu Lu, the top seed, from China and Jasmine Conway, the unseeded British junior won the Boys Singles and Girls Singles crowns respectively. The pair of Tanapatt Nirundorn of Thailand and Yamato Sueoka of Japan clinched this year's Boys Doubles title whereas the Girls Doubles crown was won by the Chinese pair of Xinyue Hu and Jiaqi Huang . DKS Coaching The Tennis Coaching Program conducted the Intra Coaching Evaluation Tournament in the month of January 2020 where over 270 trainees took part. This year a new event was introduced - Parent & Child Mini Court Doubles - which was a grand success with active participation from several parents who generally witness their wards'tennis lessons from outside the tennis courts. On the basis of the'tPerformance based Cash Incentive Scheme" for Coaching students, a total cash incentive of Rs. 51,500/- (Rupees Fifty One Thousand Five Hundred only ), was disbursed to inspire the students to perform better and also to encourage them to pafticipate in more tournaments. Arunava Majumder reached the #1 spot in the AITA rankings in Boys' Under-14 category in September 2At9, and was ranked as high as #11 in the Boys' Under-16 category in the March 2020 AITA rankings. Arunava finished as Bengal's #1 player in the Boys' Under-16 category also. Saijayani Banerjee also did exceedingly wellto end the year as Bengal's no. 1 in both Girls' Under-l2 & Girls' Under-14 categories. As per AITA rankings, Saijayani made her presence felt in the Indian circuit reaching the #14 spot in the under-12 category in August 201g and the #3g spot in the under-l4 category in March 2020. Sagnik Mitra ended the year as no. in 4 the Boys' Under-14 category in the state rankings while he ranked #73inthe March 2020 AITA ranking list. Arunava was also a member of the Indian Junior U-14 team ( Boys,) which took part in the High Performance Training camp and ITF Asian 14 & Under closed championships 2019 at Doha, eatar; in November 2a19- In appreciation of his stellar pedormances during the year, a specialcash incentive of Rs. 20,000/- (RupeesTwentyThousand only) was awarded bythe iansad to trim. The Tennis coaching Program organised the yearly summer camp in the month of May 201g, with approximately 50 students from different coaching groups. . Challenge Handicap Doubles: Baibhav Das &Arushi De The Club Tennis team participated in the Inter ctub Carnival organized by the International CIub and emerged winners again this year.

The Club Tennis team were finalist in the Inter Club Tennis Tournament organised by CCFC. DKS also participated in the BTATennis League and were semifinalist. Mr saurav Kumar Panja, a DKS member and coach of our high perforrnance group, accompanied the Indian Junior under 14 teams to Doha, eatar as its captain / coach. Debapriyo Das (Rishi) travelled to Thailand in September 2019 as Team coach(India) for a Development Tiaining camp organised by ITF/ATFfor Under-14 kids involving 11 nations. Soccer

Ever since it's promotion to the Third Division of Indian Football Association (IFA) in 201g,the DKS Soccer team performed commendably. The year under review was no exception. Cricket

In the session 20L9-20 our senior Division cricket ream fared well and reached the play-off stage in the first division league conducted by CAB. The play-off stage could not be conducted because of Covid. There were some notable performances from players of senior Division and Under-1B groups in the cAB tournaments' There were nine hundreds scored by senior Division batsmen and one hundred and fifty bv UltB batsman. Two Senior Division batsmen scored more than five hundred runs during the season and one bowler took more than twenty five wickets. consistent good peformances of players have resulted in selection to Roxx Bengal T20 Challenge tournament to be organized by CAB, The club is constantly working on to promote fresh/new talents within the club, expecting them to represent at the highest levels in the future. The cricket coaching facility of the Club Nirmal Chatterjee Coaching Center with current strength of almost 200 kids is being successfully continued for more than eight years. DKS Cricket Academy visualizes to install the sporting culture into the people by making cricket an i m portant a nd sustainable tool for hol istic way of life.

The dream of social integration of deprived and marginalized have motivated the club to extend all kinds of support for kids and youth who are talented, whereby the Coaching fees have been waived off and also they are supported with required Cricket Gears from time to time. loday, DKS cricket coaching camp is acknowledged as one of the best cricket coaching centers/camps in Kolkata.

We also look into the youth who are talented and playing well are sent to different Second division teams and gradually we want them to represent the DKS First Division team.

We encourage selected talented students to be a part of the practice with the DKS Senior (First Division) players which help them in overall conditioning skills in various quadrants. All these have helped us to play at various levels of CAB which are Under 13, Under 15 and Under 18 years with good performance. The Under 18 boys excelled in performance and were Group Champion in the CAB tournament,

Many students from our Academy are representing their School and District teams and Second Division clubs with many good performances. TableTennis

DKS Member Tapan Chandra was the coach of the Indian Railways Women's team, which ended as the champions of the Senior Nationals Table Tennis Championship held in January 2020 at Hyderabad. leet Chandra represented India in the Youth category of the Oman Open Table Tennis Championship held in March, 2020 and were the eventual champions. Swimming Swimming is one of the most popular and sought after activity in DKS after Tennis. The swimming activities this year with coaching facilities for the age group of 6 to 16 years as well as guest members were organised with great enthusiasm. The Annual Intra-Club Swimming Carnival was held on 29 September 2019. Apaft from the junior members, the senior members also participated in the Treasure Hunt and Butterfly events, thus making the carnival a grand success. NightTreasure Hunt The Night Treasure Hunt, the flagship event of the Sansad was held on 23 July, 2019. The treasure hunt was followed by a prize distribution and dinner for all participants. Reputed singer Sujoy Bhowmik entertained the crowd with his melodiousvoice. Bridge DKS was invited by Calcutta International Club to participate in the Bridge tournament organised by them. The Sansad's Library has added a number of English and Bengali books for the adults as well as for the children. The Committee solicits more of your active support not only to use the Library but also to recommend more and more publications that could be included in its repertoire. Social

The Sansad celebrated Pre-Poila Baisakh with Bengali dinner for members and their guests on 13 April 2AL9. PallabGhosh rendered hitsof Manna Deyasa centenarytributetowardsthegreatsinger. On27 October 20L9, the day of Kali puja, a dazzling display of fireworks was held at the tennis courts. Bhog was served to the Members thereafter. A talk show titled "Pink Ball Story" was organised by DKS on 20 November 2019. It was a stupendous success. Boria Majumder anchored the talk show. The other participants were ex Indian cricketer Saradindu Mukherjee, renowned sports journalists Gautam Bhattacharya and Debashish Dutta. It ended with an interactive session with the audience. On 25 December 2079, Christmas was celebrated with a lavish lunch spread. Members and their guests enjoyed the performance of Carlton Pereira who belted out Christmas carols and westerns retro hits. On 7 February 2A20, DKS witnessed one of the biggest fusion bands of India "Taltantra" led by Pandit Tanmoy Bose along with a special appearance by noted Bollywood singer Mahlakshmi Iyer. The Sansad also organised various musical programs foftnightly at L-Terrace. Like every year, this year also DKS participated in the "Sampreeti Inter Club Drama festival" hosted by Calcutta Rowing Club. The drama festival started on 19 February 2020 and continued for four days with two dramas being staged every evening. Besides DKS and host club Calcutta Rowing Club, the other pafticipating clubs were Calcutta International Club, The Lake Club, Calcutta Club, Indian Life Saving Society, Dalhousie Institute and Outram Club. * This year DKS staged the drama HAANDI PHATIBE" written by Utpal Dutta directed by our member Baisakhi Marjit. Chitrali Mukherjee, Santa Banerjee, S. S. Mukherjee, Deep Narayan Sarkar; Prabal Dasgupta, Sekhar Dasgupta, Ashok Tewari, Gautam Sen, Gautam Purkayastha and Dibyajit Das performed interesting & unique characters to earn rapturous applause from audience. Three members of the Sansad left for their heavenly abode during the year - Subhendu Narayan Deb, Jayanta Roychowdhury and Amalendu Pramanick. We pray for the eternal peace of the departed souls. Acknowledgements

Your Committee wishes to record its thanks to the Kolkata Police, the Collector of Excise and Kolkata Municipal Corporation of their support and cooperation throughout the year. The outgoing Committee thankfully acknowledges the contribution of all its members for their hard work, guidance and support. The committee would also like to record its appreciation of the work force and the members of the staff of the Sansad without whom it would not have been able to achieve what it has. The Sansad has been able to meet several challenges during the year owing to its brilliant teamwork.

It has indeed been a difficult year for the entire would with the outbreak of the deadly corona virus. Its impact was also felt in DKS. yet, the management and the members of staff were able to put up a brave front to take appropriate measures as and when required. we are confident that the world will be able to get over the menace of the deadly virus and the Sansad will continue to take appropriate steps in this regard from time to time.
