Research Paper TITLE: “Effects of Ben 10 on kids in the age- group 5 to 8 years.” Mrs. Devendar Sandhu Publication Date: 12/07/2014 Educational Technology Research Paper ii Abstract “The problem with our society is that our values aren‟t in the right place. There‟s an awful lot of bleeding and naked bodies on prime-time networks, but not nearly enough cable television on public programming.” ― Bauvard, Evergreens Are Prudish Technology has expanded the availability of information through various routes, such as, television, music, movies, internet and magazines. These routes avail children to endless learning venues about any issue that might be of interest to them. Television is a common media mode which is available to most Indian houses. As per the Turnaround Management Association „s TAM Annual Universe Update - 2010, India now has over 134 million households (out of 223 million) with television sets, of which over 103 million have access to Cable TV or Satellite TV. Kids are exposed to TV at a very young age and they view TV actively or passively without any filtrations, one program after the other. Unless parents are empowered with expert information, they are ill-equipped to judge which programs to place off-limits for their kids. This retrospective descriptive study explores whether kids and their parents felt the side effects of viewing Ben 10. The sample population of 30 kids in the age – group 5 to 8 years old and their parents participated in the research. Factors examined in the study were psychological effects, health effects, TV contents rating views, etc.

Both are main- stays of adolescence for the past several decades, stalwarts that have survivedC the days of our youth to become mainstream entertainment for people of all ages. However, only in the past several years have their talent pools mingled, allowing for video game creations with the quality and depth of story necessary to convey the comic book experience. The Early Days The earliest comic book-based video game is 1978’s Superman, created by Atari for the Atari 2600, followed four years later by Parker Brothers’ Spider-Man for the same system. Neither games are anything to write home about, as both games feature blocky, nearly indecipherable graphics, but then again, that’s about all that was possible with the processing power of home consoles at the time. The graphics did not bother gamers, as they were happy to imagine themselves in the role of their favorite comic book heroes.

THE DYNAMIC DUO THEN AND NOW: BATMAN AND ROBIN AS EVOLVING CULTURAL ICONS by Elizabeth C. Wambheim A Senior Project in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements of the Honors Project ST. CATHERINE UNIVERSITY April 1, 2014 2 With many thanks to Patricia Montalbano (project advisor), Rachel Neiwart Emily West and Sharon Doherty for their continuous and invaluable interest, assistance, and patience with the project. 3 Introduction When presented with the simple silhouette of a stylized bat inside a yellow oval, people the world over are able to recognize this emblem and, at the very least, name its wearer. Even as the logo is altered with time, the yellow backdrop traded for a grey one, the awareness persists. Yet even as people recognize Batman’s logo, one person’s impression of the superhero does not always align with another’s: a cheerful, law-abiding Batman who orders orange juice instead of alcohol at bars is Batman as he appeared in the 1960s, and a brooding hero wreathed in darkness and prone to conflicted inner monologues is the Batman of the 1980s.

Ben 10 is a cartoon television program made in America. It was created by "Man Of Action", which is comprised of Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle. It is published by Cartoon Network Studios. Originally the pilot episode "And Then There Were 10" aired on December 27, 2005. It was part of of a sneak peek of Cartoon Network's new Saturday morning lineup. The second episode "Washington B.C." was shown as a special on Cartoon Network's Fridays on January 13, 2006, on which the first and second episodes were shown back-to-back. The theme song for the show was written by Andy Sturmer and sung by Moxy. The style is reminiscent of Jack Kirby, particularly the alien and technology designs and use of Kirby dots. Ben 10 revolves around Ben Tennyson, Gwen Tennyson (his cousin), and their grandfather Max Tennyson. At the beginning of their summer vacation camping trip, Ben almost gets struck by an alien pod that fell out of space. When he approaches it he finds the Omnitrix, a device which resembles a watch inside of the pod. The Omnitrix then leaps up onto his wrist and gives him the ability to transform into a multitude of alien lifeforms, each with their own abilities and skills distinct from the other. Even though Ben realizes that he has the abilities and the responsibility to help others at his disposal, he is still a ten year old kid, who will not hesitate to involve himself in some super powered trouble every now and again.
