PSI CHAPTER APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

Qualifications: Cumulative GPA of 3.5 on at least 12 semester hours credit earned in 101 level courses or above. You must currently be enrolled at SSC to join Phi Theta Kappa.

Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, is a scholastic honor society of scholars of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, economic levels and fields of study. To become a member of Psi Pi Chapter (South Suburban College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa,) you must be currently enrolled at SSC and successfully complete the three steps of the enrollment process:

1. Fill out and return this application form.

2. Once your qualifications for eligibility have been checked, you will be mailed a , inviting you to join Phi Theta Kappa. Fill out the Phi Theta Kappa Profile form which will accompany the letter and return it with your $35.00 check or money order for your initiation fee (Cash is accepted by Christin Miller in room 2134) Do Not Send Any Money Now.

Please note that the initiation fee is $70, but with the generosity of The SSC Foundation, you will only pay $35, with the Foundation paying the rest. We are grateful for their help in making membership in PTK more affordable.

3. Participate, if at all possible, in the formal induction ceremony, which is held at the close of the semester during which you accepted the invitation to join…either in late April/early May or in December.

Note: If you are already of member of Phi Theta Kappa and merely wish to join SSC’s local Psi Pi Chapter, you do not need to pay dues again. Call Christin Miller 708-596-2000, 2200 for transfer information.

Note: New members are accepted into Phi Theta Kappa only once each semester (October 15 and March 15). If you miss the deadline, you can reapply the following semester if you are still enrolled.
