Box 949 Glenside, Pa 19038 May 1, 2014 Dear Patron: Please accept this solicitation on behalf of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the Mu Omega Chapter. Next year, 2014, marks an historic year in the Fraternity's history, as it convenes its international Grand Conclave in Philadelphia, PA. The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded in 1911 on the campus of Howard University, Washington, DC, by three undergraduates and their professor. Founded as a brotherhood of predominantly African American college men, the Fraternity's mission of "Service to the Community” is undergirded by its four cardinal principles...Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift. As a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, the Fraternity's myriad programs reflect and execute its mission. Among these are mandated programs: International Talent Hunt; NAACP Life membership (required of all chapters); Dr. Charles Drew Blood Drive; Scholarship; Voter Registration; Social Action (varied projects). On June 15, 2013, Mu Omega Chapter, via its 2d District initiative, launched the Obama White House Fatherhood & Mentoring Initiative. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is a strategic partner in this program and the Fraternity is the only "Greek-letter" organization to be so named. The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is organized into twelve districts (12). Mu Omega Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the fraternity and in its own Second District (2d). One hundred and three (103) Graduate and undergraduate chapters make up the Second District, with over seven hundred (700) chapters internationally and a membership of 150,000. Mu Omega Chapter, supported by contiguous chapters in the region, anticipates 25,000 Omega men and an equal number of families, friends and supporters. These numbers are fair estimates based upon the 35,000-50,000 Brothers who attended the Fraternity's 2011 weekend Centennial celebration in Washington, DC. Mu Omega Chapter also anticipates multiple day/night stays by Conclave visitors. This translates into significant "branding" and "show-case" opportunities for businesses and organizations. For many, seeing Philadelphia, PA and Mu Omega Chapter's facility will be a first-time experience. With your support, we can make their experience a lasting, enjoyable, and repeatable one.
