Psi Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is awarding a one-time Scholarship to assist African-American students with educational expenses associated with attendance at a higher education institution.

 Must be of African American origin, a 2017 graduating senior and attend one of the following high schools: Alvin, Angleton, Brazosport, Brazoswood, Dawson, Manvel, Turner or Pearland.  Must be enrolled in a two or four year college or university fall of 2017  Must have a high school overall grade point average of 2.5 or above  Applicant should have demonstrated at least 10 or more hours of community service (church, school, or community)  Applicant must submit a 150 word response to each of the questions: (1) Why Do You Want to Attend College? (2) What Have You Done to Prepare Yourself for College? (3) Describe an obstacle in your life and how you overcame it.  High school transcript and proof of residence such as a utility bill.  Applicant must provide two letters of recommendations. (1) Academic focused (school official such as principal, teacher, counselor etc.) (2) Character focused (pastor, employer, coach etc.) (3) Leadership focused (school official or community member) if applying for this award
