Tha nk you to Auntie Jean who came and celebrated with her at a very memorable ‘open house’ for the fl owers and Nancy Johns and helpers for catering at the so superbly organised by her family. Special thanks to them all and to wake. Also a big thank you to Dr Tapsell and the North Devon everyone who helped to make it so special. Also, a very special thank Hospice Nurses who helped make Pearl’s fi nal days comfortable you to everyone for all the lovely cards and good wishes, etc. and peaceful. An amount of £582.97 was collected in lieu of fl owers which has been donated to Th e North Devon Hospice. Ida Keens and Family would like to thank all those who attended her 100yr old birthday party On boxing day evening 2017, we Emma Leach and Adriaan (Addy) Baston welcomed baby Edward hope you all had such a lovely evening as we did. We would like Jesse Baston to the world at Royal Devon and Exeter (RD&E) to take this opportunity to thank all those who spent time in Hospital on 4 December 2017 at 8h03 weighing 7lb4oz. A preparing and supplying a lovely spread of food also, to thank wonderful early Christmas present and fi rst grandchild for Frannie those who gave generously to a very good cause Th e Devon Air and Philip Leach of the Springfi eld pottery and fi rst nephew for ambulance, a sum of £293.53 was collected. Vernon Keens proud uncle Jesse Leach. On Addy's side of the family, Edward is the fourth grandchild for Derek and Maria Baston of Morwenstow and also a nephew and cousin for his sister's family. Emma, Addy and Edward moved into their new home in Kilkhampton just in time for Christmas. I would like to express my profound gratitude for all the love and care that has been showered upon me following the sudden loss of my dear husband John. It has been such a wonderful help to me and my daughters so thank you to everyone. The characteristic that links them all is smallness, and it is their small size that makes possible the close relationships fundamental to good learning. By good learning, the schools mean learning in a holistic sense, encompassing the development of the creative, emotional, physical, moral, and intellectual potential of each person. Educational philosophy, school-community relationships, educational practices, and grading systems are described, as well as the extent to which the national curriculum and SATs are used. Environmental education and activities, service learning, experiential activities, and exposure to the world of work are extensive.

    CLAWTON CLARION February 2019 Welcome to the February 2019 edition of the Clawton Clarion. We are all still in the long dark days of winter, but St Valentine’s Day is a welcome celebration to look forward to in February. The encyclopaedia Britannica tells us that this holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February to herald the coming of Spring and fertility. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine's Day. It came to be celebrated as a day of romance from about the 14th century through the writings of the poet Chaucer. We have started a new section of “Parish Notices” this month. Please send any good news, comments, birthday messages or welcomes to be included. This month’s puzzle is a Winter-themed wordsearch.
