Gators conduct surf qualification

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Amphibious assault vehicles transporting Marines with 3rd Assault Amphibian , traveled 500 meters offshore and stopped in the middle of the waves. Approximately 10 Marines from each vehicle jumped into the water and swam back to shore during an annual surf qualification here, Sept 6. The training ensured the Marines know how to properly evacuate their AAVs and swim back to shore in case of an emergency. Click here to read more

Gators make amphibious landing at beach for fun

(Pictoral) Marines serving with Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, showcase an amphibious assault vehicle during the battalion’s Beach Bash here, Sept. 14, 2013. The annual Beach Bash was held to show appreciation to the Marines, sailors, family and friends of the battalion for their continued support. The venue provided fun activities to include a karaoke contest, dance contest, team relay races and competitions, dunk tank and raffled prizes. TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - Three individual contingents with 3rd Battalion, , staged sea bags and gear in the presence of families and friends before departing for Afghanistan over the course of Sept. 14, 2013 through Sept. 17, 2013 at Felix Field.
