7th Marine welcomes new commander

Marine achieves childhood goal, becomes a tanker

MUSA QA’LEH, — As a young boy, Matthew Moores would spend hours playing with tanks, driving around small toy soldiers on the floor of his home in Newark, Delaware. IED detection dogs prove to be infantry asset

SABIT QADAM, Afghanistan – Man’s best friend is known as a loyal companion and a watchful protector of its owner. The same goes for dogs in the military. But these are not everyday pets. Sergeant Ssuzie is an improvised explosive device detection dog, currently on her second deployment to Afghanistan. Her handler is Cpl. Michael Horvath. Fast roping prepares Marines for rapid ship-to-shore deployment

Marines with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, conduct fast rope training from CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters, Oct. 9, 2013. Footage includes slow motion sequences of helicopters. Fast roping is a technique that troops use to enter an area from a helicopter by descending from a rope. It enables Marines to quickly reach an area without landing an aircraft. The battalion is scheduled to deploy next spring with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa, Japan. Available in High Definition. Click here to watch
