Its use is expressly for official business purposes only and is the property of the United States Government. This directory must not be defaced or removed from offices while it remains the current directory. The lending, giving, selling or copying of information from this directory for soliciting, mailing lists, or other advertising purposes is prohibited. Direc- tory changes should be forwarded to the Directory Clerk (extension 725-4542). The listings are arranged alphabetically within each major command, and the index is arranged alphabetically to allow users to find numbers without knowing which command a particular section belongs. Additional assistance is provided in the Defense Switched Network Numbers listing. INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE Only personnel designated by the AC/S, COMM & INFORMATION SYSTEM DEPARTMENT, MCB are permitted to install, relocate, disconnect, remove or repair telephone equipment or cables. Service will be immediately disconnected and removed if it is found that unauthorized personnel have, in any manner, tam- pered with the installation of telephone services. Requests for service are made through the Customer Service Request (CSR) and Telephone Service Request (TSR) (MCBP-2305/4) via the user’s chain of command to the AC/S, Communication & Information Systems Department. SECURITY Except for secure voice telephones, all instruments are subject to potential compromising of classified informa- tion. Communication systems are provided for the transmission of official government information only, and are subject to communications security monitoring and communications management monitoring at all times. The use of the Base Communications System shall constitute consent to communications security and management monitoring in accordance with BO P2000.1 and DOD Directive 4640.1. TELEPHONE USE Base telephones are for conducting official business only. Public pay telephones are located throughout the Base for the convenience of the public, and are owned, operated, and maintained by Pacific Bell Telephone Company. Misuse of these pay telephones will result in their removal. Toll calls with be authorized by each section and recorded in a monthly Toll Call Record. Billing information can be obtained by calling extension 725-4509 between 0730-1600. Bills are due by the 22nd of each month, and nonpayment of bills may result in the disconnecting of telephone service. 48 hours advance notification of service termination is required by the Billing Clerk (extension 725-4509). OPERATOR SERVICE Base telephone operators are instructed to be courteous and respectful. Do not reprimand or enter into con- versation with the operator, make complaints to the Chief Operator, extension 725-4359. A2 CAPABILITIES All telephone extensions have a class of service assigned to them that defines a specific telephone capability. Questions as to what class of service is assigned to an extension should be directed to Telephone Systems Office extension 725-3101. Additionally, each extension is assigned a military precedence. The general classes of service are listed below: a. (Official with Defense Switched Network Access) – This service provides official government business access to the Defense Switched Network, Inter-Base circuits, and to the commercial telephone system. Local commercial calls are chargeable to each unit and are paid for with appropriated funds. b. A (Official) – This service provides official government business access to Inter Circuits, Leased Lines, and to the commercial telephone system. Local community calls are chargeable to each unit and are paid from appropriated funds. c. C (Official Restricted) – This service provides official government access to the Base only. d. B (Unofficial) – This service provides unofficial access to the local commercial telephone system. Telephones charges are paid for with non-appropriated funds or by individual users. 1) B-1 – This service provides access to the commercial telephone system, and is paid by the designated occupant in government owned or leased quarters. 2) B-2 – This service may be restricted to Base or have access to the commercial telephone system, the service is primarily used by the American Red Cross and other morale, welfare and recreation activities as provided by NAVCOMPMAN, Vol, III. 3) B-3 – This service provides access to the commercial telephone system for commercial concerns authorized to conduct business from a fixed location on the Base. This authority must be granted by a contract or permit issued by the Commanding General, Marine Corps Base. LONG DISTANCE CALLS Official commercial long distance calls cannot be made by direct dialing. All commercial long distance calls will be made through the Camp Pendleton Operator, extension
