Business project, Term 2, AY 2012 - 2013 Organization: Rock in Rio * to be confirmed by the beginning of January

A - Background:

Rock in Rio is the largest music and entertainment event in the world, totaling 10 editions held in , and Spain. The festival has brought together around 6 million people, who have applauded 813 bands performing live. A total of 880 hours of music was broadcasted to over 200 countries via TV and Internet. Rock in Rio has also achieved records within social networks in the category. Its web page already shows over 13 million individual visits and its networks have over 5 million followers. Using music as a universal language, bringing people together all over the world, Rock in Rio is a vehicle for the communication of emotions and social causes. One of its pillars of communication is the Por Um Mundo Melhor (“For a Better World”) social project. Created in in 2001, the Project uses music to call people’s attention and raise awareness in order to improve social circumstances based on simple daily action and attitudes. Since the 2006 edition of the festival in Portugal, organizers have considered environmental issues a priority topic and have promoted many climate change and sustainability programmes. Throughout these years, the event has already raised €11,853,354.43 for a variety of actions. These results confirm the commitment towards building a better world. The festival was held this year (2012) in , Portugal, on May 25th and 26th, June 1st , 2nd and 3rd; and in , Spain, on June 29th and 30th and July 5th , 6th and 7th . The event will be back in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, in September 2013.

B - Project aims and objectives:

To access the potential of pre identified markets to expand the brand Rock in Rio.

C - Methodology and recommended/required tools:

The project will be carried out with close monitoring of Business and Academic Advisors and will use mostly: Interviews; Desktop research; Analysis of reports and data.

D – Deliverables:

Status reports every 2 weeks (deliverables as per work plan to be completed in the 1st week of the project) Final Report and Presentation to the Representatives and CEMS Office

E - Required Skills:

Independent personalities who are used to deliver quality without much guidance. Creative and analytical minds are all very welcome for this topic. Project management skills.
